Imagine being in the “middle of nowhere”, on the top of a hill overseeing olive trees. A small road winds up there and traffic is mainly restricted to you, next to a few of residents living nearby. Definition of being away from it all… And yet, you’re just 90 minutes away from Malaga, Grenada and Cordoba and brilliant sightseeing. All the while, when you’re back, it’s quiet again, like in really quiet. Few places allow for such relaxation. Nicely refurbished and tastefully refurbished small farm / sheepfold. Thick walls. Ground floor with an entrance / office / fridge and a superbly comfortable reading room (and stove for fresher nights). Upper floor with nicely decorated and roomy rooms upstairs, each with a refurbished bathroom. Windows overlooking said olive trees. The “Hobbits” room was a blast for the kids (mind your head, if you’re taller than 5ft, as the beams within the room can be though on your head…). The kids totally loved the place, as we did, especially because they were quite free to roam outside (no traffic). And, for once, ours slept like logs there. Given the way the place is split, you feel like “owning” your part of the place with the hosts living in the other end with a separate entrance and a common patio. So you definitively don’t feel like intruding on them, nor the other way round. Great gastronomy at night at “La Haza”, a 10min walk down the hill, good to open appetite and thereafter to digest. It might actually take a bit longer on the way back, after having been so outstandingly fed. Stunning sky view at night: given the remoteness of any (city) lights of the place, the star-gazing experience is just awesome! Good Wi-Fi connection and speed, if despite the relaxing atmosphere you really need to reconnect with the world. Spent 8 days early May 2013. Had fantastic weather. Went out during the days to check the tourist sights and surroundings (always leaving too late, but you sleep so brilliantly when it’s so quiet and you’re used to the city hustles). Tons of things to see and do otherwise, especially with kids, in order to alternate culture, nature, discovery and entertainment. Wished we had stayed longer… Janette and Steve were outstanding and charming hosts. We came as guests and left as friends, and totally relaxed.…
