Favourite place for food and drink in MaeNam. Just the right balance of music, lighting, food. Beach front location is perfect. Waves crashing in the background just breaking through the cool ambient sound tracks.

We stumbled across this place on our daily walk to Fishermans village. The food is excellent and well priced and the cocktails are well made and contain plenty of alcohol, something that is not always the case at other bars. We returned 4 times during our 2 week trip. The Barracuda steak in Penang sauce, King Prawn Penang and Thai pizzas were all really nice. The staff are friendly and although there english is not the best, so what! Learn a bit of Thai or don’t complain. Ignore the review directly below this, the person has just been vindictive and has only ever posted 1 review.

If you like awful service, awful food and the boy behind the bar has an awful hair cut. Then this place is for you. Bungalows are basic. Staff are so rude, they wouldn’t ring us a taxi. Avoid this place

We fell upon this delightful eatery walking up the beach in Bo Phut. The food and service was amazing. It has bungalows which I didn't see but we ate at the restaurant 2 days and the chicken garlic and pepper dish was fantastic.

Hostel is in good location, it's cosy, pretty clean but only one person knows english and she isn't here all the time and in weekends at all. Communication is a disaster! Owner's nephew doesn't know english, he doesn't even try to talk to you, never smiles, you feel unwanted not like a guest. Owner's daughter is lovely, they need someone like that here all the time. I wouldn't come back here.

The Free house bungalow is one of the more affordable places to stay on the northern part of Koh Samui. It's is a great location, right on the beach and about a 10-15min walk from the restaurant strip and Fishermans village. The atmosphere of the place is gorgeous, rooms are simple but clean, working fans and mozzie nets. Staff are of little words yet helpful when need. Would definitely recommend.

This place is really the best place that you can find on Maenam beach for the price. Of course there are more luxurious bungalows around but they are overpriced and most of the time not front beach. Free house bungalow is the dream for any foreigner and Thai who know what quiet means. Someone who published a negative review must be a very stupid foreigner who knows nothing and has no brain, because even for me as a Thai used to stay at high class places, these bungalows are really incredible for the price. Front beach bungalows for around 1500 Thai baht is a great chance, so go there before millionaires come, buy the place and build a 3 storeys ugly building for people who have no idea about the meaning of beach vacation ! Unlike liars who wrote negative review said, staff is friendly, owner is friendly, price are good, and location is amazing! Actually now that I am writing this I even start to regret to share my opinion as next time I will visit this place will be fully booked by people who read my review :-) But it's ok, I am a Thai living in Thailand and can be there anytime, so I want to share it with friendly foreigners <3

My friend and I have eaten at Free House three times since we arrived on Bho Put beach last week. It's a gem of a restaurant with quaint bungalow accommodation out back. Freehouse offers great service, amazing authentic Thai food as well as "the best pizza I've ever eaten" to quote my friend and an idyllic beachfront location with the waves and a cool playlist creating a chilled vibe. Rustic, modest and understated, this place is great value for money. I can't recommend Freehouse highly enough.

Stayed here in September 2016. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable, with modern bathroom, a safe, space to sit outside, a good sized bed with mosquito net and a fan - and every room is less than 40 metres from the beach. The restaurant/reception area overlooks the beach and serves a great selection of food, of higher quality but also higher cost than many budget guesthouses (B160 for a chicken Pad Thai, B70 for a banana shake). The owner and manager are very attentive to customer needs and helpful with advice - and can also rent you a motorcycle to tour Koh Samui. Free House Bungalow is located just a ten-minute walk from Fisherman's Village, within three minutes of a supermarket and right on the beach.
