Brekkeseter is originally a mountain farm from the middel ages. The older original farm building is from 1772. However, Brekkeseter consists of many very old logcabins that are originally raised at Brekkeseter or set up during the last 15 years. These are farmhouses, barns and stabells all transformed into nice, cosy units for self catering. They are fully equipped with kitchen, bathrooms, sleepingrooms, living rooms all with open fireplaces for compfort and heat. At the small hotell it is possible to enjoy a better meal along with a good selection of wine. The place invites you to relax after a trip in Rondane National park. You may hike, bike, ride, look for rare birds or go fishing in creeks, rivers and lakes. All activities are nature based.

Booking online went smoothly but communication before our stay was non existent. I had to call to get in contact with the host as he wouldn’t reply any of my emails. Things weren’t ready at arrival and we had to find another place to eat dinner even though I had requested dinner from the first evening. We stayed at Midt Stue which in my opinion wasn’t worth the price paid per night. Shabby furniture in the living room which is too small for eight people. The place advertises with gourmet food. Although the food tasted good it was common Norwegian everyday food, not worth 480 kroner per person. We are dinner one night at another place for 200 kroner less. The host is relatively friendly but not proactive and needs to be reminded what we agreed beforehand. I think it is a charming place but definitely not worth the high prices.

Our family of 5 have spent the Easter hollidays at Brekkeseter the last three years, a great place to be if you like cross country skiing and good food. We rent one of the many cabins with our dog, prepare breakfast and pack our lunch at the cabin. Then we spend all day skiing before we are served the best three course meals at the hotel, made with perfection and love. Bjørn and his family want the guests to relax and enjoy the stay. And that is what we do🐣🐔🐓

Spent a few days at Brekkeseter in the beginning of october. Very attentive host, beautiful surroundings, à collection of exquisite old log houses/cabins, tasteful interiors, comfortable beds and delicious meals. What more do you really need for à short break? (Well, maybe à bit more stable wi-fi...) And, I have to mention that the hotel is impeccably clean and well maintained, and the staff are also pleasently present. I’d love to come back!

We have stayed here each winter for 10 years, together with a group of friends in the cabin named Nedre Stuen, which have 8 separate sleeping rooms. We normally stay for about 10 days doing cross country skiing in the most amazing mountain setting. Here is just so beautiful and the nature is "wild". The skiing terrain with prepared "løyper" (skiing tracks) for cross country skiing and a few huts to rest and buy hot drinks and cakes/ wafers, is probably the best in the wold. We love staying here in Norway. The cabin was partly (sitting room with kitchen and two bathrooms) renovated a couple of years ago, but the 8 rooms could still need some renovation. We prepare the food in the hut,but 1-2 evenings we have dinner in the hotel. This year we had a 3- course dinner, which was really excellent. The first course was based on tatar made from smoked trout, the main course was reindeer (fantastic) and the dessert was white chocolate mousse. The owner of the hotel is very nice, almost always present and very service oriented. One day he accompanied us for a skiing trip. We have already booked the cabin for next year. It is possible to stay in the hotel or one of the cabins. I recommend to visit the website for further information.

Brekkeseter is a small, family run hotel, with a lot of character. The hosts are friendly and welcoming, and it is clear that they have put a lot of effort into making this place special. You can stay in hotel rooms in the main buiding, or in nearby cabins. The accomodation is simple, but comfortable. All hotel rooms have good views. The cabins are all different, but most of them are tradtional Norwegian houses that have been moved to Brekkeseter and restored. Some cabins are more than 200 years old. The cabins provide a real Norwegian "hytte" experience; includning wooden panels and a fireplace. We stayed in a cabin called "Plassen", that was somewhat smallish, but cosy and surprisingly warm and With very comfortable beds. In the main building, there is a very good restaurant, serving the best food in the area. Dinner is a three course set meal, usually based on local traditions, but with a cosmopolitan twist. When we were there, the mains were reindeer fillet and poached salmon, beautifully presented and with equisite side dishes. Breakfast buffet is also excellent. The main buiding has nice sitting areas, some with comfortable chairs, some with antique funiture and a lot of character. Here you can read a book, enjoy a coffee or a local beer or just watch the fireplace. Brekkeseter is situated at the edge of the village of Høvringen, an exellent and very quiet location. Well-marked tracks for hiking and skiing starts just outside the door, and it is a real good place for outdoor activities as well as pure relaxation. I'll be back!

We visited Rondane Parc especially to see the wonderfull colours during fall. Brekkeseter is a perfect location not only to start your hikes through the amazing nature but also to start your trips with a car. We drove about 1200 km in 4 days through Rondane en Dovrefjell and even went to the wonderful Geiranger with the Trollstigen afterwards. Bjorn and his team offers you a very warm welcome, an excellent breakfast and a splendid diner.

This is a very unique hotel in what feels like the middle of nowhere, the greeting is very warm although we were surprised when we were asked if we needed bed linen and towels, we stayed in a log cabin but expected these to be provided - this wasn't the case and we had to make the beds ourselves. Our cabin was very warm which was welcome on such a cold, rainy day but was a bit dusty. The wifi only reached the kitchenette area of the cabin and unfortunately the handwritten wifi password was not clear (however this was not a huge issue for us but maybe for others). One of the main issues we had with the cabin was that the bathroom had no curtain! The window at eye level made us feel slightly exposed to the gaze of other guests who are free to roam right outside your cabin. The food is very good, but we were only offer one set menu and if you do not fancy trying moose not sure what you will eat (come prepared). A big disappointment with dinner was the price of drinks, a 500ml bottle of Pepsi Max was around £9 stop on the way and get four bottles for the same price!!! Another point was that the gentleman who we assume Owns the hotel barely said 2 words to us during dinner, we assumed he had little English skill and that's ok but the following day we spoke to him at length about his dog and how he got his name. The breakfast was good, although limited compared to others - the smoked salmon was to die for! The check out was fine but we were very surprised to find we had been charged for the linen and towels. There is no mention of this on the website that we can see and at nearly £20 it's not cheap either!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Brekkester and the staff. If you are looking for a peaceful, quiet, beautiful, place to vacation, look no further than Brekkester. It is a family and child-friendly place with AMAZING gourmet food. They seem to be able to accommodate nearly any food allergies. I have an allergy to gluten and could eat almost everything on the menu. Those that were not naturally gluten-free meals, were made with alternative gluten-free ingredients. My mother has an allergy to lactose and she was able to eat almost everything on the menu. We stayed in one of the cabins on the property. The beds were very comfortable. Be sure to order linens and towels as we learned the hard way that these were not automatically included. Bjorn (the owner), his daughter, and the rest of the staff were lovely. I could not have asked for a better experience. We were able to see the northern (polar) lights from our cabin. This place is simply enchanting and truly peaceful. A wonderful place for family time.

The Brekkeseter stands on the site of an old farming community and consists of the main hotel building along with a series of cabins of varying sizes spread around the surrounding area. We stayed in the hotel section which houses a number of communal sitting rooms, the dining room and about eight sleeping rooms. The sleeping rooms are simple and on the smallish side but perfectly adequate and very quiet and comfortable. The hotel sits in a National Park with numerous hiking trails and is reached by a narrow winding road about 5 miles off the highway. Dinner at the hotel was a fixed price, fixed menu affair that was uniformly excellent. The staff were very helpful and helped us sort out a flat tire with the car rental company such that, despite the location, we were on our way in less than two hours.
