This countryside hotel is very well presented at the side of a lake. Check in was efficient but not very smiley and we were showed to our room which was in the eaves of the building. The bed was very comfortable and there was a welcoming carafe of some local cherry aperitif which I suspect was homemade. The rest of it was a bit lacking in attention to detail./ By example the carpet did not quite meet the skirting. The bathroom wad a large beam a head height to get to the lavatory. The lavatory pan was a very odd shade of graduated grey. The shower was up two steep and potentially slippery tiled steps. The dining room was very well appointed but despite all the claims that the chef had numerous awards the food was very average. There was no choice on the table d'hote menu apart from take it or leave it. Breakfast was in another room and also lacked interest Would I go again. Probably not.

Stopped for one night on our drive to gibraltar. The evening meal was fantastic the best that we've had in France. Worth the detour off the motorway. Our triple room was spacious and clean. Carpets in need of cleaning but Good value for the 75 euro that we paid room only. The set menu was 35 euro per person. The breakfast wasn't worth 10 euros each. lovely setting overlooking a small lake

We booked as a stopover looking for something a bit different to the usual autoroute hotels. It was such a lovely hotel. Friendly, helpful staff, good size room and bathroom. The best part of the stay was without a doubt the restaurant..lovely food! We would definitely recommend the menu! I wouldn't hesitate to book again.

We have used this hotel twice as it is a great location when travelling from SW France back to the UK. The hotel is situated on the edge of a quiet village and is in a good position with a lovely lake and the ability to have a good off road walk prior to eating. The lake side rooms are more comfortable and well appointed compared to the rear rooms but need a little attention. For instance the shower leaks so the water pressure is low and the temperature control doesn't appear to work resulting in a cool shower, not what you want on a cold autumn day. The towels are clean but small and there could be some more shampoo/shower wash. The restaurant is a lovely room with a big fire and well laid tables. The food is quite old fashioned French cuisine and as very meat orientated. Fish/non meat dishes are available but they are not good, my wife left most of her expensive meal, shame. With a few tweaks and attention to detail this would be a great hotel and restaurant. We hope to see improvements on future visits.

charming, quiet wonderful location and really really excellent food; the bedroom we had was very light and airy and extremely comfortable bed! The hotel welcomes dogs but they do need to be able to climb stairs!!

We booked this hotel specifically because it was stated to be dog friendly. On positive notes the setting is very attractive and the food excellent. Less good was the heat in our room admittedly on a very hot day but a fan would have been appreciated. We were however disturbed to see a notice in the room which stated that ideally they would prefer dogs to sleep in the car and that there would be a liability if they remained in the room. Also whilst we were able to eat outside it was also clear that we could not have taken the dog into the restaurant inside.....All in all making us feel uncomfortable, a pity because generally its nice hotel

We called at dinner time and the host said they were full in very broken English. But we saw a room available on Booking.com so we went ahead and reserved online and drove out there. When we presented ourselves at the reception desk, we slowly came to the realization that the man who had answered the phone earlier was at that time single-handedly serving dinner five parties in the dining room! It was obvious the booking stressed him out, but he tried very hard not to show it and remained very polite. He found us a beautiful room and agreed to hold the kitchen open long enough for us to freshen up and come down for dinner. Entering that dining hall made me feel like I had truly arrived somewhere special; ancient vaulted ceiling, fireplace, views of the lake just outside through ivy-rimmed windows. The menu was great, the presentation was great, and although there was only one server, he did a perfect job attending to us and timing the courses. Every inch of this property is well maintained and charming. It exudes personality and good taste. Five star property for a two star price. We appreciated the electric kettle in the room as well as the bottle of brandy. Nice touch. Flowers out the window, quiet ... The only disappointment was breakfast, which was strangely less than average. We couldn't find hot milk for our coffee and the manager didn't come around until we were already finished with our limited choices. The breakfast room mezzanine has been updated. It feels modern with a rustic touch. Well done. Be sure to take a walk up the road and look around!

If you want to go to a hotel where the staff seem to have no understanding of the art form that is good hoteliership then this could be gold dust for you. Presumably used for Basil Fawley's training course in customer service this is an establishment we will never visit again. On turning up we were told there was no records of our booking (this despite having a Booking.com confirmation). The room was tired and dull, the public rooms the same. The food was tasteless and the service at best reluctant. It was the first night in a four week trip and an inauspicious start. Fortunately we have stayed in nothing but excellent hotels since. If you are in this area and looking for good food, service and general quality in facilities drive on. We did not make a career out of complaining simply because our hosts are so far adrift of where they need to be we id not feel sharing our views would actually be understood by them.

Overnight stay while travelling South in France. We had large comfortable ground floor bedroom with enormous, well equipped bathroom. The setting is stunning nestling alongside a lake down a quiet lane. The staff are charming and helpful. To us the dinner meal was a let-down. Adequate but not very interesting. Breakfast is a really good quality cold buffet with some of the best croissants I have had in a long time.
