For those who don't know, this is a taxidermy museum, so full of stuffed animals. This may not be to everyone's liking as a result, but is actually very interesting. I wouldn't like to hazard a guess as to how many animals and species are there - it is over several floors so there is a lot. It is very clean and well-maintained, and there is quite a lot of interesting info including how it all started and by whom. You can also watch a video about the taxidermy process (top floor just before the dog section) if you want to. You can easily spend a few hours here and it is suitable for families - there were a lot of children there when we went and they all seemed to be finding it interesting. Would recommend as a place to visit if you have a couple of hours to kill.

Something rather magical about this place, it's no wonder they filmed parts of all four Harry Potter films, and the last Star Wars film from up there! (The Rise Of Skywalker)

Standing directly behind the Beacon monument and looking out as if it was a clock, you'll notice Grims ditch at 2 o clock. (see attached photo)

Normally I would not mention this, but being a power kite enthusiast you'll notice how the wind seems to blow harder over this point, almost like Odin himself is still breathing from beneath it, The Vikings seemed to believe in this, luckily for them power kites had not been invented then!

Therefore I'd keep power kite flying away from this area, or you really do run the risk of doing a Mary Poppins off the side.

    I speak from experience!

Second tour, both excellent value, informative and fun. You don’t move far as it’s a small place however an easy hour of chat with a few tasters along the way - will be back

Pleasant walk by the reservoir. Quite bracing but lovely to be able to get out; wide paths most of the time; interesting to see the waterfowl. In between lockdowns we were able to visit the pub across the road for something to eat and use the facilities. The cafe nearby is shut for refurbishment.

We visited Tring during COVID19 and walked through the town.

It is pretty and has some quaint little shops and places to walk. It is very well-kept and nice for a short visit. Sadly most of the town was closed because of COVID-19 and although gift shops card shops and cake shops were open there was a limit on how many people could go in at once making it quite difficult because it was raining today ☔️

Memorial gardens however, was beautiful and while we were there the sun shone ☀️ and we watched the ducks 🦆 and sat and enjoyed the fountain. Lots of V-E Day signs in the park at the moment and we enjoyed reading these too. 🇬🇧

You can kill two birds with one stone if you're visiting Tring Natural History Museum and asked to leave early in order to let others in due to overcrowding. This ancient woodland is associated with museum founder Walter Rothchild anyway because he had once kangaroos, emus and other exotic animals roaming around here. Now you can only see grazing cows though as most wildlife is not active during the daytime but still its a beautiful hilly/valley like terrain to get your daily dose of nature if you're anything like me.

The only downside is the dog walkers who don't pick up after their beloveds and leave it in the middle of walking trail. Apparently they think it adds to the beauty of the area. I would've expected this in big touristy city like London but not in such lovely countryside. Also the King Charles obelisk and remains of the summerhouse don't look like they're being looked after or maintained.

Excellent online wine tasting - the Rhone Rangers! Really informative couple of hours of chatting about the five wines with the winery team and the wine makers. Especially liked the intro to how to rate different wines and figure out what you like best. Good for newbies and for anyone who already knows their wine. We’ll be back!
