- CoachM27Winnipeg, Canada6 contributionsMy wife and I made the drive from Tronadora to La Piedra del Indio Waterfalls and it was totally worth the drive! Our host, Alejandro, was a fantastic host and guide, not just leading us down to the bottom of the incredible waterfalls but also a wealth of knowledge about the area and it's history, the various trees and other flora and the critters we encountered along the way. The views are stunning and we even saw a Bare Throated Tiger Heron nesting in a tree about 80 feet high. Once we made our way back up (after giving Alejandro a major scare when he thought I was having a heart attack!), he opened a couple of coconuts and gave us a taste of coconut water and then some of the meat of the coconut - wonderful! We then had a cold beer and hot lunch to put the perfect finishing touch on a great day. We highly recommend visiting this beautiful site and meeting Alejandro and his family, the 3rd generation of their family to settle on this land. Thanks for the great memories, Alejandro!

We stopped by not necessarily expecting to get a chance to go, or going on a long hike to get to the falls based on other reviews. The owner saw our sedan and drove us down to the main parking on his truck and picked us up at the end. The hike seemed long going down, but wasn't as bad coming back up. We did 3 of the 4 possible waterfalls. We didn't make it to the last one, but the 3 that we saw were amazing. The hike to rainbow falls was definitely worth it.Written January 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - orsmith11Redmond, OR25 contributionswonderful visit with local people who live their national motto "Pura Vida" or simple life. We heard this greeting from all age groups and nearly every contact. The west coast is lots of lush tropical jungle so thick the animals are hard to see in the day, but the night time guided flashlight tours are rich with wonderful, exotic treasures explained by dedicated, knowledgeable locals who communicate with each other along the trails so we see all of the animals the various groups find along the way.Written July 9, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - barbara oKamloops, Canada18 contributionsBarbara is a charming hostess who is willing to share her knowledge of both art and Costa Rica. - Alex J6 contributionsThis is pretty easy hike to the top of the hill by Tilaran but views from there was amazing. Not only you can see Tilaran town below, but also the chain of volcanoes such as Tenorio, Rincon de la Vieja and more...Written February 27, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Keri Stamarindo, costa rica7 contributionsI took my daughter for a lesson with Sander and it was amazing!!!! He’s so great with kids and really made her feel comfortable in the water. She got up first try!!! Not only that but she wore a helmet with a microphone so she was able to talk back and forth with him the whole time! Loved it! Highly recommendedWritten January 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- VTtraveler05676Waterbury, VT4 contributionsBooked and paid for 3 days of windsurfing..... but unable to as the private road/drive to Tico Wind was a giant mud pit. Got stuck on first and last attempt. Owner condescending (and not apologetic) and no refund forthcoming. Suggest NOT paying in advance as I did. If you cannot make it to the launch site safely then you won’t be out $$ as I was. I would also suggest checking all equipment and support services closely if you do make it down the road.Written January 27, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
