It is a nice place to take a walk near the river. It is very lively on weekends and many places to see and things to do for the whole family.

This park is actually across the river from Guayaquil in Samborondon. We took a guided tour that included many animals and birds in a jungle like setting on a humid morning. There are also historic buildings that were moved here from Guayaquil, and even several art exhibits in the buildings. You can walk to nearby Rio Centro Entre Rios mall for lunch after visiting. A cab ride from Guayaquil is the way to get there.

Worth coming here to see the real town of Guayaquil, not too far from our hotel and next door to the Ferris Wheel and waterfront. It’s the old neighborhood. Not that clean but safe climbing, security guards everywhere. 400 steps is nothing and you will be rewarded with a nice church and lighthouse. Also you can see the view of the town. After here we walk across to get a ride on the cable car. A must and dirt cheap crossing the river. Love Ecuador. 3 blocks near cable car station is the handicrafts main bazaar(Mercado Artesanal Guayaquil)We loaded on leather belts, wallets, Panama hats, Alpaca blankets and hammock etc. So cheap! Must bargain.

We arrived here around 4 pm aboard a cruise ship for an overnight stop. However, due to political unrest, we were not allowed to get off the ship until the next day. Guayaquil is Ecuador’s largest and most populated city, and the most dangerous city in Ecuador. It was founded in 1538 as a native village ruled by the Spanish until it gained its independence in 1820. Our first stop was at the free city park Parque de las Iguanas. It is known as Iguana Park because it is filled with green- and gray-colored iguanas, turtles and pigeons roaming freely. The iguanas vary in size and were a popular photo op. They are uninterested in people and welcome the lettuce thrown at them from the various feeding areas set up for them. They can be found on the grassy patches, walkway, and across tree branches. The park has a gazebo-type building where there was some type of celebration as the gates to the park were guarded by men and women clad in what I believe were military formal uniforms. Entrance to the park is free. I recommend a stop here when your travels bring you to Guayaquil.

Climbed all 444 steps up this hill for the terrific views and see the old church and lighthouse. Most favorite thing we did in a week of touring here. My friend took the steps carefully and slowly and we had lots of people offer assistance and chairs. Wonderful Ecuadorians all along the hill. We enjoyed the history and the whole idea of making it a revived space. You can do this even if you think you can’t. Lots of places to rest and get refreshments.

La Perla is a nice addition to the Guayaquil malecon. Airconditioned enclosed cars with views of the city, river and islands

Takes about 15-20 minutest to walk through. Typical church. Down one aisle and up the other. Worth a stop if nearby. All of the signs are in Spanish. Directly across from the park.

Loved this park. It is a great place to sit and relax and watch the iguanas walking all around. Pretty amazing for being in the center of town.

Enjoy the walk along the riverfront. There are many restaurants here to choose from. There are also four small museums, all free.

Loved this park. It is just a neighborhood park with iguanas walking all around. Great place to see them and to stop for a short visit.
