As non native French speakers we found the guide easy to understand and very interesting. Local myths were interspersed with geological information although she couldn’t answer all my chemistry teacher son’s questions. We ranged from 9-73 and all of us had an excellent visit

We felt lucky to see this place. The cave is incredible. Although you aren't able to go into the entire cave because it's so large, you do get a good sampling of the most important petroglyphs. The guide was extremely knowledgeable. It's great the group sizes are so limited and the time inside the cave is as well so it doesn't seem like a tourist mob area. It is well worth a stop here but you have to plan in advance so you can get one of the tours that speaks your language.

Time stands still at this site where in 1244 up to 300 Cathars were burned at the base of the mountain - an option they chose rather than convert to Catholicism. The place still holds a haunting energy that has survived nearly 800 years.
The walk up looks worse than it is and if you pace yourself is well worth it and takes around 20 minutes. The views are stunning.

Amazing place with beautiful nature around. The outside of park is where you buy the tickets and eat hamburgers - staff is very friendly. The park itself is great, a lot of activities for the children, the wolves are amazing - they have 3-4 types. Do not miss the feeding part as its very nice way to see the wolves from close. Very recommended.

Le Chateau de Foix is a ‘must visit’ experience. It sits in a commanding position above the town, which has interesting mediaeval origins. As you walk around, it is clear why the Chateau was never sacked: invaders had no chance of scaling these walls. The Chateau itself is well worth a visit, as is climbing to the top of the towers for a stunning view of the Pyrenees and the rest of Foix, including the historic centre. Visits are enhanced by numerous demonstrations. My particular favourite was the one showing how heavy loads such as sone for building was hoisted to such a height. However there were also a range of others including arrow tip forging and weapons in use during the Middle Ages. These would be of particular interest to families.

The museum is adjacent to the chateau. During the Middle Ages, Foix occupied an important political role within the region and you can find out about the changing boundaries of the family, as well as the lineage of the Dukes who ruled for 400 years. I was particularly interested in the role played in relation to the Cathars and there is some interesting information about that, including a charter of rights to protect local people. Most of the information in the museum is in French but there is also a digital guide in other languages.

We spent 4 to 5 hours at the Park, our children are aged 10 & 14 and both of them found it very interesting.

There is a good balance of outdoor activities and indoor attractions, very informative from the prehistoric animal exhibits to the, cave painting and artefacts.

We had lunch in the restaurant and the quality and service was good.

Being late May, the Park was quiet with a few school groups and families.

A wonderfull waterfall. Don't forget to take the GR10 up to the Passerelle d'Ars and the sidesteps to the right of the route, as you'll have great close-up views of the waterfall from there.

Do not park where they suggest along the road as you will have an hour's walk along a narrow road. Go to the end of the road where you will find a gravel car park, loos, maps and a picnic area. A track leads up to the Cirque which, for an average walker, is only 45 minutes away. One does have to cross a couple of shallow streams. Mind out for roots and rocks but it is a mountain track. Once there it one of the best views of glacial bowls for miles around. If one is feeling energetic one can take a hike round it. I thought the whole thing was spectacular.

It just kept going, each corner we turned (albeit slowly because it was SWELTERING), there was something new. It was just what we needed to kill some hours before a late flight from Toulouse and we didn't find this place in advance - it was only on the day when we realised it was close by, tucked away in the middle of nowhere that we decided to check it out.
The man running the place was friendly to us and we had a nice couple of drinks after our wander. It was very peaceful and really quiet. I must have counted only about 10 other people the whole time we were there.
It seems well maintained and there are plenty of information boards in various languages to help you understand the types of bamboo you were looking at. Who knew there were so many different types?
Worth a little visit if you're nearby.
