One of the most relaxing things to do on your vacay. If you want to give yourself a caring and relaxing day it is highly recommended. It is preferable to visit early in the morning when the air is cooler so you will enjoy the warm waters. Your skin and muscles will thank you for this :) The best spots are near the big white mountain. You can have a picnic there or visit the osterias near by.

The thermal pools are not free (although they may have been in the past). You pay for parking as well as €2 pp entrance.
It was not crowded when we were there today (probably due to cooler autumn weather). I would not want to be there when it’s crowded. All seemed a bit gritty, but looks good from the sideline

My boyfriend and I took this breathtaking detour en route from Rome to our next place of stay in the Tuscan countryside of Reggello and it was definitely worth the stop! Visiting Italy in March proved to be somewhat uncomfortable/chillier than expected, but the stop at the hot springs in Bagni San Filippo at about the midpoint of our trip was refreshing, warming and revived us for the next half of our trip to come in Tuscany. However, I think these hot springs would still be more pleasant to visit in warmer weather, since getting out of the hot springs and getting dressed in the chillier spring weather was a bit gruesome- it was at least drop dead gorgeous! Plus, the hot springs are free and remote. A nice peaceful tourist-free stop after spending the last 3 days/nights in Rome. There weren't many people there, but it appeared to be a hidden gem enjoyed by locals mostly.

We parked when our navigation told us to, which was slightly earlier than the actual parking meters and line of cars we ended up stumbling upon, but even if you make the same mistake we were able to hear running water to know we couldn't be far off. Then we ended up making the way down harder on ourselves by hiking down our own creative muddy steep path down to the stream until realizing that there actually was a cleared out gravel trail from the line of cars at the top of the hill on the way down that we could have followed. Would still recommend wearing or bringing sandals for exploring the different groupings of pools to check out. Definitely don't settle for the first baths unless maybe in the summer if it's already hot. We kept on trekking despite being cold, and it was definitely worth it. Not very far from the parking point, maybe half a mile at the most but the actual Fosso Bianco is sort of obscured so you do have to walk a bit to see the actual for yourself.

You'll definitely know once you've reached it, it's a beautiful limestone mountainous formation with small waterfalls from the springs at the top and a series of steaming small pools of verrrry pretty light blue water. The rocky formation is pretty easy to climb to get into the pools, but beware the limestone does break off easily. Don't settle for the pools at the bottom, keep climbing up because the closer to the source point of the hot springs at the top you get, the hotter you'll be. Some of the pools are pretty shallow, but there are a couple that are pleasantly deep enough for one person to essentially treat as a bath with your whole body submerged in. The white sand inside and the water itself feels amazing on your skin and is said to have healing powers. My boyfriend's psoriasis felt better after soaking in the water and touching the sand. Also there's dry enough spots on the Fosso Bianco where we could leave our backpack and towel in sight and not worry about it getting stolen, so you can bring stuff with you.

And if you're hitting the hot springs of Bagni San Filippo as a lovely detour on a longer road trip like we did, I would suggest eating and making any other stops you had planned before the hot springs because there is a sulfurous smell. Not that the smell is strong or unpleasant to the point where it takes away from the experience, but it's not ideal to hit a restaurant with wet sulfur smelling hair and/or clothes, etc. afterwards.

All in all, this is a nature lover's galore and a breathtaking spot you won't regret!

The place is hard to get too and once you're there you'll notice a little foul smell in the air, that my friends is the smell of pollution. Once you go further down the smell goes away but its the same water! I didn't see any industrial filters along the way so its the same smelly water only it doesn't smell as much further down..don't kid yourselves it's polluted, there is a reason why its free..in Italy nobody gives you NOTHING FOR FREE, take my advice and go to one of the baths in Bagno di Romagna..it's not over the top expensive and its much much more pleasant..unless of course you like people pissing in the corner while you bathe.

The pictures do not make it justice. Look for the sign "Foso bianco" and go down the path. There is no way a place like this would be open to the public in the states. I am afraid that this free gorgeous place will get closed due to people disregard for nature. People are carving in the magnificent walls, some people bring dogs who poop all over, and since there are no public bathrooms, kids pee in the natural pools. I am glad we were there early enough to enjoy the place before I got disgusted with some people disrespect and foul use. A magnificent place some humans don't deserve.

I had read so many different reviews, I wasn’t sure a trip would be worth it. But we loved it! Granted we got there early on a Tuesday (10:30) and parked along the road as soon as we saw cars (before you get to town). Paid 1 euro per hour to park, and headed to the springs. We were early enough to get nice pics, and get a pool with a waterfall. It was lukewarm...which we wanted on a warm June day, but there were smaller pools right nearby that were plenty hot. We packed a picnic and spent about 3 hours. Every once in a while we got a sulfur smell, but nothing overwhelming. A nice relaxing morning for us.

When we went in Mid-April the limited parking was already busy (pay at meters), so I can imagine high summer is a bit of a nightmare to park. If parked at the top of the hill there is a walk down the road past all the parked cars, then a gravel path down to the thermal waters. Don’t let any of this put you off though, it is worth the effort and what’s more the hot springs are free.
There are different groupings of pools to check out all of vary temperatures ranging from warm to unbearably hot!, The thermal pools run all the way down to the actual ‘Fosso Bianco’ crystalized waterfall which is a way further downstream, so don’t miss that spectacle.

What an amazing find! Right in the middle of the forest, hot springs flow freely. Incredible after a day of hiking/biking. Go! Go! Go!

The warm waters bubble down the rocks next to the paths and you can sit on little benches and put your feet in the stream.
