The Lucky Pig left a lot to be desired! The young woman cooking the butties fed visiting dogs pieces of bacon with her hand then proceeded to touch the bread for people's butties without cleaning her hands. Yuck! The other woman had trouble with maths and forgot my drink. Need to be a bit more professional.

If you're in Christchurch for a weekend, this market on a Saturday morning is a great place to visit. Great range of stalls, with produce (including organic), crafts, snack food, and live music in Albion Square. On a sunny day, it's a great way to while away an hour os so.

Bought some excellent bread which lasted days. Some very good olives and sundried tomatoes in.oil with roasted garlic . Great dips including a spicy red Indian type dip which was unbelievable. Good mini tomatoes which looked unripe but we're very ripe and sweet.

Lovely to see such a buzzy vibe in a town that suffered so much during the Christchurch earthquakes. Loads of stalls sellibg a wide range of local produce, hand made artisanal foods and very much the heart of the community. Thoroughly recommend the volcano olives and hummus.

Since moving from up at the Primary School to the main street, the market has just got better and better. The fresh produce is varied and, well, fresh! Seriously, you can get things like watercress regularly here. Lots of vegetarian and vegan offerings along with awesome pies and whitebait sandwiches. Live music is always a nice treat, but make sure you get over early!

I loved this local market. The fresh produce was a delight. The baked goods were full of flavour and the Turkish sweet stall was very decadent. I loved the arts and antique stalls too. The live jazz music on the morning I attended was very good. It was nice to relax with a coffee and wander the local shops. I can't wait to come back and buy vegetables, sausages, olives and local cheese!

If I lived in Lyttleton I'd be back every week for a selection of fresh vegetables, delicious cheeses, great breads and tempting pastries, cakes and fudges. Enjoyed some food as I strolled and took some for enjoying later. Lovely atmosphere of locals and visitors alike, and live music to set the mood.

Was at market yum I thought white bait fritter I love that flavour
I paid $8.50 and what I got was two slices of cheap $1 a loaf white bread inside this a white bait omelet
No white bait flavour what so ever what a rip off
Try if you must I learnt the hard way I love seafood
This is my second review in Lyttelton hopefully my next will be more uplifting

Venture through the Lyttelton Tunnel and escape Christchurch and enter a new world.
As you exit the tunnel the view across to diamond Harbour is spectacular. Even a dreary old harbour looked great with a cargo ship in. This was stunning.
Today the village was drenched in sunshine. Port Hills as a back drop and harbour views this is indeed one gem. Colonial cottages, quirky shops, old world charm.
This market operates on a Saturday morning usually 10 until 1 but at a guess it operates longer.
The street is blocked off from road traffic so a safe haven to stroll aware, looking, sampling and buying the wares that are on offer.
There are people singing and playing music instruments which adds to the atmosphere. Cafes doing a brisk trade. Friendly neck massage.
Fresh produce available - prices reasonable. Some organic. Note there is also an organic vegetarian supermarket right in amongst it.
There are stalls selling craft and jewelry.
Also a pop up bar selling his brew.
Samples are a delight.
Take an hour or two to sample this market and the stores around.
Marvel at the architecture of the buildings. And look at the views.

Great place to go and try pick up a few bargains. The market food is at excpetional quality (of the food I have had there). Plenty of things offer. Good place to go stretch your legs before driving around the Port Hills etc. Highly recommended
