About
Founded in May 2011, River District Arts is an eclectic group of more than a dozen artists working in a wide variety of media and styles including oil, watercolor, photography, ceramic and collage. They are the heart and soul of River District Arts. During your visit, you will experience artists at work in spacious, inviting and light filled studios. You will have an opportunity to talk with them about their latest creations and browse our Confluent Gallery feature regularly changing shows by local and regional artists. An adjacent Artisan Market features fine hand made craft from Virginia artisans. Plan to experience a wonderful selection of tapas and traditional Spanish cuisine at El Quijote. They are open for lunch and dinner Thursday through Monday. Please call for openings hours. Located in Sperryville's River District, RDA is housed in a beautifully restored post and beam apple packing facility from the 1930s era, with touches of sophisticated modern interior architecture combined with exposed beams, rustic wood floors and sliding barn doors. Openings Hours: Thursday % Friday: 11 am till 8 pm. Saturday & Sunday: 10 am till 8 pm.

We visited during the Rappahannock Farm Tour and enjoyed the art displays, local foods, and talking with friendly staffers.

Someone has spent a lot of money renovating this huge old apple warehouse into an art gallery adjacent to Cafe Indigo, which is in the same building. There is nothing out of the road to indicate that either the gallery or the restaurant are off the road about a half mile down a nondescript lane, but there is a sign for the Copper Fox Distillery and Copper Fox Antiques. In the gallery there are spaces for a dozen or more local artists to display their works, and many of the artists were present on the day we visited River District Arts. Once you've been through the gallery and had lunch at Cage Indigo, you can stroll over to see the whiskey works at Copper Fox Distillery or wander through the cavernous Copper Fox Antiques building.

We had been there before and wanted to visit again. We drove up to the building and the building was closed. One of the employees at Copper Fox distillery said the owner closed the building. He wasn't sure where they relocated to.

A few of the businesses that were there are now right behind the building before you get to the antique center. Some of them have moved up the road on route 211 to the antique center next to the CFC Farm and Home Center near Washington VA. I'm not sure which ones are there. There is a sign up that says River District Arts but I did not stop.

There aren't that many things to do in the area, so we stopped in here. They didn't have anything that we would have wanted to buy.

This "gallery" is a mini "Torpedo Factory (Alexandria VA). Numerous artisans of all types many of which are there in their own spaces. Some of the artists are much friendlier than others - some have an overvalued self but you can find something by carefully perusing all that is available.

I would like to say there is something here fir everyone. That us not the case. A grouping of diverse art styles that does not seem well organized. Expensive (is there a price on art?), off-center, not openly friendly.

tucked in along side the river in the little town of Sperryville, Va., sits the River District Arts. Amazing renov done to this old apple barn structure that now showcases many talented local artists studios. Definitely a spot to stop and see great arts & crafts and enjoy the scenic mountain views from the large outside porch. Adjacent you will find the huge Copper Fox Antiques wharehouse, the Copper Fox Distillery and Rag Mountain Photography and more - all within a few steps. More awaits you in downtown Sperryville at Haley Art Gallery, Thorton River Grille Restaurant and The Corner Store & Pizza and the old school house Antiques at the LINK. Great accommodations at The Hopkins Ordinary, Just out of town you'll find Cherry Hill Antiques and Harmony Hall B&B.
Lots to see and do in this beautiful little town - and it all starts at River District Arts!

This art venue has so much to see and explore. I spent a few hours just marveling at the local works. They have such a nice collection and with most of it for sale. They also have a few artist who have offices on sight, tho I am unaware of there hours or when they do showcases. They did have pamphlets outlining dates when you could come see some of the artist.
