Jonsrud Viewpoint is by far one of the best views of the Sandy River Valley and beautiful Mt. Hood during every season of the year. Breathtaking and sweeping views, you can see all the way down to the Sandy River. There are a couple of benches to sit and breathe it all in as well as a telescope that is free to look through. The unfortunate thing is how very little parking there is and it’s right on a busy road. Rarely are all the spots taken but if they are there’s not much you can do but wait for someone to leave. My picture below is just a quick snapshot so not the greatest but you get the idea.

Just a short distance off of Hwy 26 on Bluff Rd, this is the best place to take outstanding photos of Mt. Hood. The Jonsrud family settled west of Sandy in 1877.Their son, Robert, acquired the property in the early 1900s. The prairie home was built in 1922 and still stands across the street from the viewpoint. Robert's son, Philip, donated the land, where the viewpoint is located, to the city of Sandy in 1984. There is parking for just a few cars with a view area with signs explaining the history of the area. Definitely worth the trip, not only for the photo opportunity, but to see the beautiful valley and Sandy River below the bluff.

Unlikely location for such a stunning view of Mount Hood. It is located right in the middle of a suburban neighborhood! It’s a quick in-and-out with your camera on a clear day. I wouldn't go on a cloudy day as you won't be able to see it. If it's a mostly clear day you will be rewarded with a really cool view. You could make this stop by turning off the main road in Sandy and be in and out within 20 mins. It's worth it!

An absolutely amazing view, especially during the winter when there's snow on Mt. Hood. The informational signs are also very interesting about the history of the area and how settlers originally traversed through the area. Definitely a must stop spot on the way to Mt. Hood!

Go North on Bluff Road, not South as these instructions say. The view is amazing! You can see Mt. Hood, the Sandy River and Cedar Creek. Great photo opportunity!

This little pull out spot is worth the effort for the breath taking view of the Sandy River several hundred feet below. The guard rail is there for a reason, keep a hand on the little ones and Rover on the leash. The drop off is tempting but not really suitable for climbing. It's a long way down through brush and blackberries. But the view is exceptional. Helps you get an idea of what the pioneers faced while looking for the trail to the Pacific Ocean. As with any natural area, please leave it cleaner than when you got there.

Just a stop along the road with a few parking places. Wonderful view of Mt. Hood and the valley below. In the Fall you can see the mix of all the colors together. Originally found this on a calendar and decided to go check it out.

Worth the drive if you're going by! Very nice overlook, without much need for walking. (not a lot of parking, but there was only one other car there when we went)

Nice place to get some pictures if it's clear out. Most of Mt Hood was behind it's own weather the day we were there. Scenic view of the Sandy River. Small parking area, but not real busy. Walk from the car to the ledge was 20 ft, so great spot if mobility issues.

If you pick the right day it is an incredible view of Mt. Hood and the valley below. As a coach we have taken our team picture there a couple times and my son did some of his graduation pics there. Parking can be a pain sometimes but usually not a problem.
