For people who love nature and mountains the Longtan Mountain is a great spot to enjoy river view and have a breath of fresh air. It is also a good walk along the river on the way to the mountain, so have something comfortable to wear for a hike.

It is a little hard to climb up in January because a lot of snow, but you'll be rewarded by a fantastic view to the city and some worth seeing temples.
In the night the mountain is overwhelming lightened, this is a MUST SEE!!

A new gateway greets visitors to this mountain park. New stairs lead you gently up the mountain, past the broken hill monument where Emperor Qianlong ordered the mountain to be split to stop the dragon's pulse, to the Phoenix and Dragon Temple area. These temples are shared between Buddhist and Dao philosophies and are still active. Climb further through woodlands that are alive with bird life to the viewpoint at the top, here you get an unparalleled view of Jilin City and the Songhua River. Well worth the climb, thoroughly recommended.

I think this is where we visited the Deer Farm - if I'm wrong then my apologies.
Admittedly I was tired and cold but really. A few bedraggled deer, a tour guide who was pleasant but as bored as we were and a restaurant come shop that I didn't bother with. It was all a bit confusing as there were references to a 'foreigners' area but as I didn't go near the shop I can't really say.
For vegetarians let me say that you must keep away from here. Even as a carnivore,i found some of the photos somewhat disturbing.
Obviously in warmer weather there is more to see. There were also a few other animals, I recall a mink, that were in cages and not all that happy looking.
I suspect that this venue is provided as a reason to visit Jilin. Me, perfectly happy to wander the streets and parks and not have to be 'shown' something.
I hadn't been looking forward to the Deer Park and I wasn't disappointed, complete and utter waste of time.
This is probably the most negative review I've written as I'm usually happy to make the most of anything new and different but can't say this was worthwhile in any way.
