I will start off this review by advising that it rained when we visited Martin's Fantasy Island, and that may have tempered my overall impression. It will cost a family of four $100 to get in the park, cheaper if you print out the online coupon and then don't misplace it when you actually need it, as we (naturally) did.

The park is clean for the most part, and was a little smaller than we expected from looking at the online map. We started in kiddie-land, which will only amuse the youngest of children. The rides are the kind you would find at any travelling carnival. We did not linger here. We went on Max's Doggy Dog Coaster twice and found it about as stimulating as watching soda pop lose its carbonation, yet somehow our kids were entertained by it. We went to the little western town area hoping to see the shoot-out. The actors started there bit and it had some promise, but it was called abruptly mid-way through on account of rain. Disappointing but understandable. We rode the canoes, which was peaceful and enjoyable though there was some off-putting garbage floating around the strangely green waterway. We then went to the other side of the park in search of better rides. Here we found the wooden Silver Comet coaster. I was the only one from my clan who rode this and quite frankly I thought it was pretty awesome. It was high and fast and was of the calibre of roller coaster you'd expect in a major theme park. Things were looking up. We went on a few other things- ferris wheel, antique cars. It was fine, we all had a decent time, then we went to grab a bite only to have the entire place very suddenly close on us. The rains came down heavier and folks started skedaddling, and we finished our Martin's Fantasy Island experience wolfing down lousy spaghetti in Basgetti's Cafeteria, back in kiddie-land.

As we drove off in the rain, I realized that we probably wouldn't be back. We were told there are no rain refunds, and I would hate to have just arrived only to see the place shutter its doors having dropped that much cash.

We didn't really get our money's worth but maybe you will. I give Martin's a lukewarm recommendation. Your kids will probably have fun and you might even enjoy it, but there is still better value out there than a day at Martin's can offer.

Martin's Fantasy Island is a terrific place to spend the day for younger families. There are many kiddie and school-aged rides here along with a small variety of rides for teenagers and adults. The main ride attraction is their wooden roller coaster. It's a ton of fun and apparently modeled after the old Comet at Crystal Beach. Fantasy Island also has a decent water park which includes a wading pool, lazy river, and water slides.

In addition to rides, there's also a good variety of shows appropriate for all ages (Wild West shootouts, puppet shows, musicals, etc). Fantasy island has an assortment of carnival games along with shops selling the typical tacky gifts (key chains, stuffed animals, shirts, etc). The park is always clean and much less crowded than Darien Lake. For food expect your typical fair grub - burgers, hot dogs, pizza, fries, fried dough, etc. For sweets there's a store that sells fudge, chocolates, old fashioned candies, and popcorn. You may also bring in your own food to enjoy at one of the picnic areas.

Price wise Fantasy Island is affordable. Non discounted tickets typically cost around $20 in-season. Children under two are free and so is parking. Before going always check their website as they usually offer coupons.

Come to Martin's Fantasy Island to enjoy a nice summer day with your family. The reward is for those with young kids. Not much here for young adults or teenagers. It's close local attractions, affordable, and fun. Do it.

Closer to us than Darien Lake and a much better value. We've been coming here for years. They haven't out priced themselves like their nearby counterpart. Always an enjoyable day for all ages. Easy access from interstate. Look forward to this summer. Well worth the ride.

The whole family went to Fantasy Island for Father’s Day. What a huge disappointment!!! There were so many rides under construction and only had 3 rides open in the kiddie park. I tried to be optimistic and figured there were rides in the main park the kids could go on. Well antique cars were under construction and the Farris wheel broke when half of our family was on it. Tried the train. Waited 15 mins before a staff member told us it was closed for mechanical issues. Kids only got to go on literally 4 rides. We got frustrated and figured we would go to the water park. Only to find out the wave pool was........ yep under construction! Went into the lazy river and after 5 mins of being in....... yep closed it for “issues”. There was so much garbage floating around the lazy river and we kept stepping on garbage. There was nobody manning the lazy river so it was complete chaos trying to get a tube. So when your kids are too big for the kiddie pool and not big enough for the big water slides, there wasn’t much for them to do. The snack shop in the water park ran out of ice cream and pretzels. Leaving cookies, your only snack choice for kids. We left the water park to try to settle the kids meltdowns of disappointment with a snack from somewhere else. Stop at another snack shop. Yep.... out of ice cream and pop! All the dipping dots were closed too. We decided to leave park and headed to the bathroom first. We went to the bathroom at one of the restaurants and the handle for the cold water wasnt even attached. It fell in the sink when I went to turn it. I literally felt like I was on a hidden camera and the joke would soon come to an end! But it didn’t. So sad to see the park in such poor condition. I’ve been going to that park for over 30yrs and have no intentions of going back. Especially when it cost almost $200 to get in and the kids went on 4 rides. It would of been nice to have been informed prior to admission that so many rides and the water park were under construction. Anybody who is considering going to this park, please call ahead of time to see if rides are open. I would hate so see your kids go through the disappointment my kids experienced! I called the park today to report my disappointment and of course, nobody was available to speak too. I hope the new owners take visitors cocerns into consideration or I’m sure they will lose a lot of business.

Let me preface this review by saying my family has been visiting the park for 30 years. My siblings and I would go every summer (from Ontario, Canada) every year. For the past 6 years or so, we've been going again every summer with our children. It was always a place we loved - family friendly, rides for everyone. Now that it has been taken over by new management, we are sad to say we will never return.

Our most recent trip was on Aug. 15th, 2018. We showed up (in 2 vehicles because there was 12 of us) and paid for parking, which never had to do before. Whatever, it was $6 each vehicle...not a huge deal, but different from previous visits. While at the parking gate, we asked where the picnic area was, as we had heard it was out in the parking lot now. The parking attendant had no idea what we were talking about.

We entered the park and started, as we always do, in the children's side. The kids were extremely disappointed to immediately see that the Rapunzel ride was not working. We hoped it would open at some point during the day, but it never did. The airplanes were also not running, and the teacups did not run all morning. The kids went on the "new" pumpkin ferris wheel...this thing would come down and make a horrible screeching sound and shake/stall every time it went around. How is this new?! Also, at one point in the day, my 4-year-old nephew was stopped at the top and the ride attendant completely forgot he was up there! Throughout the day, there were "Out of Order" signs on multiple seats on the Pumpkin Wheel, the dog roller coaster, the teacups and the balloons. Doesn't really scream safety, does it?

After an underwhelming start, we moved on over to the "bigger rides" side. Mind Warp, Full Tilt and Rock and Roll were all shut down for the day. The antique cars had 3 cars running, until one of those broke down and left the park with 2 working ones. You can imagine how long you wait for that with only 2 cars working. We didn't bother waiting. My kids love the swings, but I'm seriously concerned about this ride. In previous years, the seats wouldn't turn 180 or 360 degrees...this year they seemed to be all over the place. My husband rode with my daughter (who only after she rode was told she was actually too small. Our fault? Maybe...but the ride attendant should have checked for sure). Again, many of the rides had "Out of Order" signs on the seats. The park really looked to be in a sad state, completely run-down with nothing working.

So we decided to have lunch. In previous years, we would always bring in a big picnic lunch and eat under the gazebos. We knew this practice wasn't allowed anymore before we came, but we were under the impression that there was a decent picnic area outside the park to use. Well...there is. Sort of. They dragged a few picnic tables beside the fence and that's where you can eat. No canopy, not even umbrellas, despite the very hot and humid day. Another major disappointment.

While eating lunch though, my father witnessed someone pull into a space and smash into the car beside them. A man got out and didn't even look at the cars...just walked to the park. He must not have known he did it (although how he couldn't have, we don't know...there was a lot of damage) because if you didn't plan on saying something, you'd at least drive away and park somewhere else...lol. Anyways, my dad reported the incident to Fantasy Island, and proceeded to have to spend the rest of his day dealing with them and police. Oh, and the person who crashed into the car? An employee of Fantasy Island. No wonder they didn't care.

Back into the park we went, but decided to try the water park. Wave pool was closed, as it was all summer despite Fantasy Island's constant lies about plans to open it. Don't use the change rooms. If you think the rest rooms in the park are bad (they are!), the changing rooms are worse. The women's change room was practically pitch black as none of the light bulbs worked, so you could barely see what you were doing. Barely any of the locks on the stalls worked. And there was about 2 inches of disgusting water all over the floor, likely from the clogged toilet that no one was attending too. I shudder even thinking about what was in that water.

Tried taking my one-year-old in the baby pool, but it was freeeezing. At the very least, heat that one. Lazy river was chaos. Went to take my daughter on the "bowl" water slide, but because they only had ONE double tube, we had to wait FOREVER. She was too afraid to go alone on a single tube, so we were forced to wait and wait for a double tube. Definitely not worth it in the end anyways. Like the rides, this part of the park is a dumb and a complete cess pool of germs and disease.

You think I'm done? No, not yet.

Some of us decided to ride the Silver Comet. I've always loved this roller coaster...its fast and rickety and crazy but so much fun. Rode it once and had a great time, and no one was in line when we got back, so we decided to ride it one more time. My 8-year-old nephew and brother were in the very front, and a lady was right behind them. Then the whole coaster was empty except for my husband and I and my other brother in the very back. We start going up the big hill and suddenly heard a snap and bang and just felt something that did not feel right. The ride stalled going up the hill. I'm freaking out and screaming at them to not start the ride. One ride attendant "Dana", proceeds to tell us it is safer to just ride it through. Ummm hellllll no. They didn't even check to see if/what happened. Just that we needed to keep going and it was perfectly safe. Again, NO. The attendant walked over to us and tried to explain that someone had just hit the E-stop and it was fine. Then what did we hear/feel? I did not feel comfortable riding and told them I would sue them if they started the ride. Was still told that it would take longer to get taken off and we should just ride ahead. WTF?! Finally convinced them that I would not ride and they got their "maintenance" guys to come and help us out. They also made excuses, saying the park is open 7 days a week, maintenance issues come up...lol. The whole park is falling apart, so forgive me for not trusting their maintenance crew and putting my life in danger riding their biggest and fastest ride after it stalled on us. They walked us down, one by one...and then I watched as they allowed another group of people get on right away. They didn't even check it!!!

That's when we decided it was time to get out of there. My brother tried talking to customer service about what a terrible day we had, and they offered him a snack voucher or "some bubbles for your kids"...lol. What a joke this place is.

I don't want anything out of them. This place is a complete dump and has gone waaaay down the tubes. They try saying their fixing the place up and adding this and that...they're not. Its a dump. I am legitimately concerned about the safety of Fantasy's Island's patrons, and I would urge anyone reading this to never go there. Its just not worth it. It saddens me to say this, as we have great memories of the place...but the new management just doesn't care. It is obvious I'm not the only one feeling disappointment about the place, as the park was quite empty. Previous years were much busier, but its apparant that its not "Martin's" Fantasy Island anymore.

Fantasy Island gets one star only because I couldn't give it zero. We have been purchasing season passes for the past ten years and have always enjoyed our visits but since the new management took over it's been terrible. We were told when we purchased our season passes this year that we could take one guest in per pass for free in the month of June. I called yesterday (June 25th) to confirm this and was told yes, our free guest passes were valid until the end of June. When we arrived at the gate we were told that the free guest offer ended June 24th. I explained to both the gate operator as well as the "manager" that we were told we could bring in a guest for the entire month of June but they wouldn't budge and we ended up paying full price to bring my son's friend in. While we were there the ride operator on the "Rock and Roller" was letting children on that were well below the required 44 inches (to ride with an adult). I mentioned that they looked too small and she responded that, "It's okay because she told them to make sure they ride between their parents." My brother in law took my niece on and their seatbelt wouldn't latch. The same ride operator told him, "..to just hold onto the bar real tight..". The only new ride in their "new storybook area" was closed down and the only thrill ride in the entire park was closed down as well. I spent $45 on crappy, cold food at The Bopper that took 35 minutes to cook and then when I stopped to buy my son a funnel cake the girl tried to put a cold, already fried funnel cake that had been sitting on the counter back in the oil and pass if off as a fresh funnel cake. So in review Fantasy Island doesn't honor their policies, has rude employees, are now charging for parking, no longer allows you to bring food in (but you can eat your lunch in a hot, unshaded corner of the parking lot on filthy tables), won't allow you to use the family picnic areas unless you've paid ahead of time to rent them, are understaffed to the point where they need to have one ride operator running 2 to 3 rides at once or not run rides at all, entrust your children's lives to ride operators who are blatantly violating safety regulations, have crappy overpriced food, and filthy bathrooms. What used to be a locally owned, quaint little park with a family friendly atmosphere where you could come for day with your whole family, bring a cooler of food, find a nice picnic spot, enjoy the rides and shows and not have to spend a ton of extra money has turned into a corporate run wasteland.

My family re-visited this park on Aug 28,2017. It was a 3hr drive which involved crossing the border and booking 2 hotel rooms. I called the park and asked many questions, (was everything open in the park and was told yes..!!!! I was informed that the park was purchased and it was now called Fantasy Island, and the new change was that you could not bring " Food " inside. I will show you why i wrote food in capital on my next review. When we arrived at 3pm at the gates i went to the ticket box and asked the young lady there, how much were the tickets , what time the park was closing and "WAS EVERYTHING RUNNING" ....she said YES!!!! I was up sold to a season pass. I live 3hrs away but the difference between the days entrance and a pass was minimal. IT WAS MY SON'S BIRTHDAY and i wanted him to experience the old school style park i thought i
had remembered. I was allowed the walk through the gates with out a ticket and with a wagon with a cooler, back packs etc. NEVER CHECKED MY WAGON..I thought to myself at that time that i was not sure how SAFE this park now was!!!!. My family came after me and my husband told the girl at the gate that we purchased season's passes . We were directed to go the customer service. After seeing that customer service was extremely busy we decided to go straight to the wave pool ... i remembered the way from my previous visit years before. That was about a " 10 min." walk. The wave pool was NOT WORKING..at that time. I overheard another mom ask one of the staff and they said," the park did not have enough staff to cover the pool. As i looked around i saw the water slide beside the wave pool was closed ..I looked at the bottom of this closed slide ...there was green water visible . i felt this looked like a park in some sort of transition and did not seem to be running efficiently. I spoke with a young man staff and asked right away . HOW COULD I GET A REFUND.. ( 10 mins in !!!) He called someone on the radio and they told him that i should go to customer service. Before i left my family i went to the concession stand near the wave pool to buy something for them to snack on. This was not clean and the first thing i saw was the pop dispenser filled with some sort of bees flying around it.... the lady in front of me could not get her cup near the machine. I walked further and found a concession building and bought fries. When i go to a park , i know items are more expensive, i budget for that but..... paid i believe over $7 US for two containers of fries. I have new seen that little fries on a box !! Now i understand why they don't want food inside. For the amount of fries you get , they are making lot of money from each potatoe.
Went back to my family, gave them the fries and realized the wave pool is now running (HOWEVER>>> THE LAZY RIVER IS NOT RUNNING) it looked like they had taken the staff perhaps from the lazy River to cover the Wave Pool. Not sure but WoW !!! I could go on and on but ...lots in the park closed.... i'm as tired writing this review as i was trying to get my REFUND 10min into a park. I waited from 3:45pm to about 6:pm up ay customer service.... spoke with several people and finally to a gentleman who said he was in charge. He said he could not help me but gave me a name and number of someone i could contact. 10mins in !!! I'M WORRIED ABOUT PARK SECURITY...NOT ENOUGH STAFF TO COVER RIDES etc. A still LAZY RIVER... a still WAVE POOL. A park in transition with new ownership.. ok. . but,,,, for someone that will not have full use of a seasons pass and has incurred many travel expenses to visit your park, does not feel safe !! ,not running at full staff, after only being their 10 mins and cannot get a refund. I was told by upper management that REFUNDS DOES NOT MAKE GOOD BUSINESS. What ever happened to great customer service...Did not exist that day. That is my son's memory of is 12th birthday. I did explain to my son that there are many other places that believe that their customers deserve better. I couldn't get a refund to take him somewhere else that was fully functioning. NOT HAPPY..NO REFUND. I will share my photos at a later review.

We have had season passes for the last four years as we live close to the park, and it is a convenient afternoon of fun for my two children. It has never been one of my favorite places, but my kids have always enjoyed it.

This year the park has taken new ownership and we visiting for the first time on Sunday. It was a beautiful day, and I expected the park to be full.

First, we were surprised by the fact that they are now charging $5 for parking. This is sign number 1 that they are in need of more money.

Second, they had "redone" the children's area, and half the rides no longer were available. Two rides my kids tried to get on were broken (the doggy rollercoaster and the rapunzal ride). We decided to head to the adult rides and were also surprised there were a handful of rides broken there as well. There were only two paddle boats available. Even the bumper cars only had three cars working!!! When I asked the staff, they simply shrugged their shoulders and said things kept breaking down. This rarely happened in years past.

I was (but wasn't) surprised that there were not many people there. The good thing was, we didn't have to wait in any lines. However, there weren't a lot of rides to go on!

When we left, my husband said to me this would be our last time getting season passes. I simply don't know how they will survive unless they make some big changes.

We went with family members who took us as guest. We were contemplating purchasing passes after this visit we deffinately won,t be . For those like me that have been going as a child will have tough time seeing its demise. The pond that has kayaks to use is deplorable. The water is green with debris in it. This has been an issue for years and just keeps getting worse. The children we had were on 3 rides that broke while they were on it. They have taken many rides down which makes it look barren. They do not allow food imside the park. The food they have in the park is very limited , pricey and poor quality. Staff were not friendly and were deffinately there for the pay check. We wont be returning.

We visited the park on Thursday, July 24 to take advantage of their Grandparents Day ticket pricing. For anyone who doesn't know about this, please go to the website and see. I was going to buy the tickets on line to take advantage of the online discount and found out that I couldn't combine the 2 discounts. No problem - I will pay full price at the gate and get the 2 grandparents tickets. When I get to the gate, I was told that even though I was taking my kids and grandchildren, I was not eligible for the grandparents tickets because the tickets I purchased were for 48" and above. No where on their web-site does it say that you have to purchase tickets for small children. My 9 yr old grandson comes under the 48" and above pricing. So I not only missed out on the grandparent pricing but due to misinformation from park employees (I called and talked to customer service before going) but I missed ou on the online discount pricing. To add to my frustration, I called on Friday and left 3 requests for a call back. Not 1 call was honored. I finally called again on Monday, and the head of Public Relations said that I should do what ever I had to do, that the park doesn't give refunds or discounts back. (What I have to do is to share my experience with the public.) Instead of honoring the website pricing he said that he needed to go in and change the website. The conversation ended when he hung up on me. Nice public relations department. I have taken my kids to this park when they were little and we have had a company day at this park, and I had now started to share this park with my grandchildren. Not any longer. Do not bother going to this park, it is nothing special. There are other parks that offer the same things, but appreciate the partronage that is given to them.
