This is a beautiful location which we were pleased to return to. Mystified that tripadvisor does not include the restarurant there where we have enjoyed 2 excellent lunches over looking the etang.

The lake is majestic and worth the stop. There is the opportunity to fish here. Weather was bright and warm when I went, but could easily turn. The landscape surrounding the lake is beautiful. There was still snow on the surrounding tops of the mountains.

This lake is situated in a wonderful location in the mountains and has a restaurant close by. It's possible to buy a fishing permit and send a quite day fishing. There are lots of walks in the area and occasionally parapenting takes place on the hills over looking the lake.

This is a beautiful mountain lake with lots of place to walk, picnic, and fish. Great during the summer but also a winter wonderland. Have a coffee or hot chocolate at the cafe overlooking the lake and valley. Amazing!

On a day trip from Saint Girons to Massat we decided to continue on up to the pass and sure enough we winded our way to the top to find Etang de Lers! We had read about this but were surprised to see a picturesque lake stocked with trout and fisherman perched under umbrellas on the shoreline. In the background was a grazing harpers of cows quietly chewing their cud and watching the people by the lake. Above the lake was a small museum, info center and a cafe with a patio looking at the lake and the peaks in behind. Beautifully picturesque and very nice quiche with frites and good wine. Above the lake is the take off point for the local para gliders club and they were active this day. Stunning to watch them catch a thermal and ride it over 300m above our heads only to land right where the took off! What a treat to watch.
