Martin was very informative about the architectural styles in South Beach, as well as delivering a short history of the area, those that developed the area and the people that ultimately created the area one sees today. He also provided tidbits of movies that had been filmed here and who the current owners are in some instances. The tour was about 90 minutes, mostly outside, though we did go into two hotel lobbies. The walking is casual, with stops along the way where you are standing and listening to information about a particular building. As such, the tour is doable for most people. We returned a few hours after this tour to take the "Neon Tour" which we do NOT recommend. The presentation was almost exactly the same as what we had just heard on the architectural tour. While the guide was knowledgeable, it was still repetitive. Very little about neon was learned. Moreover, the tour started way too early. It started before dark and even at the end of the tour the lights were just beginning to come on. Sort of takes away from the point of the whole thing.

I was part of the 'Scandalous Miami' tour as well as the 'Walker's Paradise' tour under the tutelage of Howard Brayer who was highly passionate, knowledgable, and energetic about the details that went with the tour. As an Architect and to-be Urban Designer, I was fascinated and surprised by the details, and thoughts that went in designing the tour, especially the walker's paradise tour as this is often something not talked about as it should be. Howard was extremely accommodating and patient with all our questions and needs and I highly recommend these tours to anybody going to Miami to better understand the heritage and built environment of the region.

I took the South Beach Scandals and Jewish Miami Beach tours on consecutive days this past weekend and thoroughly enjoyed both activities. I learned a lot about the history of South Beach dating as far back as the early years of the 20th century when Miami Beach was incorporated as a city. Kudos to the docent Howard Brayer who patiently answered the barrage of questions I peppered him with on Saturday and Sunday!

A group of nine of us came here today for a private tour. The tour was organized with help by Mark, who was so responsive and conducted by our tour guide Joel who was fantastic. His memory and knowledge of dates in history and architecture were absolutely superb. We also learned a lot about the history of Miami Beach, movies and television shows that have taken place here as well as in-depth knowledge on the architecture itself. Highly recommend it especially for groups as they give you headsets and the tour leader uses a microphone and the covers are new on the headsets for each person so everything is very safe with Covid.

This is an exceptional walking tour, and a must-do for anyone staying in Miami, especially anywhere near South Beach. Our guide Julie was super informed, knowledgeable, funny and a great sport to conduct our tour in and out of rain showers. I cannot say enough positive about the experience. Just go do it for yourself as soon as you can :) :)

We delved into Miami's wonders with Howard's Art Deco walking tour two years ago and quite frankly had to come back for more. This time he inspired us with his prolific knowledge of the Mediterranean architecture, history and culture of South Beach. Highly recommend this tour, 10/10.

Very fun and informative tour. Would recommend it to anyone interested in not only the architecture but also some history, lore, and humor thrown in to understand the full picture of Miami. Julie was great. If you have her as a guide, you are the luckiest.

Howard took us on an amazing 2h walking tour covering not just the story of Miami Beach, but also the huge part that the Jewish community played in its development. Great tour that I highly recommend and I hope they do more often. Thanks Howard!

Superb in-depth walking tour. Iā€™m an architect and already quite knowledgeable about this period, so wasnā€™t sure how much Iā€™d get out of the tour. However Julie really brought the architecture to life with lots of detail and interesting context. Some funny stories too!

It was the perfect Sunday for a special walking tour of Washington Ave, one of the older commercial arteries of Miami Beach. First and foremost, Howard is an exceptional guide. His passion and knowledge comes through from start to finish. There is so much history in this mile-long stretch. He really opened up the past for all of us. I highly recommend this tour when it's next offered.
