- LoveandLight1111Franklinton, North Carolina27 contributionsFun for Any AgeMy family and I visited Hollywood, FL. My 12 year old searched for activities. She came across Flamingo Gardens and I am so glad that she did. We truly enjoyed seeing the animals, and plants. We learned about the history of the land from one of the guides. I wish that I remembered his name. Visiting FG awakened my inner child and caused me to feel such joy and peace. The staff was amazing and eager to help. There is a butterfly garden and spot for weddings on the grounds. You can purchase food at FG and feed the flamingos. When I am back in the area I will definitely revisit FG.Visited April 2023Traveled with familyWritten April 12, 2023
- Collette SEagle River, Wisconsin16 contributionsA pleasant visitIt was a refreshing visit away from the northern winters that I am used to. The flowers and orchids were beautiful. The animal exhibits were well-kept up and spacious. The tram was included, and was both interesting and informative would become a regular visitor if I didn’t live so far away.Visited March 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten April 17, 2023
- liza20212021Sarasota, Florida1 contributionRecommend for everyone -all agesLooooved this place! Relaxing! Fantastic leisurely day. Went on a day that was partly cloudy but warm enough to not be cold or hot. Perfect! Great, informative tram ride. The flora and fauna are wonderful! The collection of huge trees is amazing. Food was good. Had the best/perfect hamburger - Haven’t had one in a very long time in a restaurant. Thank you! The staff is friendly, helpful, and enables you to keep the begging white birds away from your table. 😉. Highly recommend going. The price is well worth every penny and it’s not outrageously priced like a lot of other attractions.Visited April 2023Traveled with friendsWritten April 19, 2023
- Amy SGreensboro, North Carolina13 contributionsWorth a return visitWe did the guided tour and also the tram. It was nice to have the guide point out the various types of trees and animals, birds. The current Lego exhibit was interesting to view. Really enjoyed the aviary and how up close you can get. They do a wonderful job hereVisited June 2023Traveled with friendsWritten June 6, 2023
- Joyce MOakland Park, Florida22 contributionsBeautiful PlaceThis is a lovely place to spend a few hours with nature. There are botanical gardens and animals. The many different birds, mammals and other animals are all rescued creatures that can’t be returned to the wild. The docents give educational programs about various animals. It’s a wonderful place for all ages.Visited January 2023Traveled with friendsWritten June 7, 2023
- andrew gBreezy Point, New York74 contributionsBeautiful dayNice place and very well run. Tram is a great way to start. It’s got a bunch of animals in humane enclosures and the Wray House Museum was interesting. Especially the woman working there explaining the history. Just wish they sold wine somewhere on the property!Visited July 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten July 5, 2023
- Lambie_Family111 contributionsBlack bear experience with JoshFlamingo Gardens is a beautiful local attraction which does not feel too commercialised. We booked an experience with Josh the North American Black Bear. We got to feed him with fruit through a fence. It was great to spend time with him and learn about bears. The keeper was lovely and very knowledgeable. Don’t miss the 1933 Wray house, as the talk was fascinating and really gave you an insight into the history of South Florida. The gardens are amazing with lots of birds and other rescued animals. Also jump on the land train tour, this takes about 25mins and the commentary is very interesting. We didn’t have time to join the talks but there were three throughout the day featuring the otters, birds, etc. Food options are a little limited with a burger type van and sandwich counter, but it was enough to keep us going. This is a low key local attraction which is a nice alternative, and your dollars will be helping the animals. Take rain jackets/ umbrella with you as most of the attraction is outside and you know what the Florida wear is like.Visited July 2023Traveled with familyWritten July 27, 2023
- Heather JToronto, Canada8 contributionsNice SanctuaryWe went to Flamingo Gardens because my son loves flamingos and when he found out about Flamingo Gardens during covid I told him the next time we go to Florida we will go. It was a bit of a disappointment that due to bird flu he could not have a personal experience with the flamingos. When we arrived we were sold bags of flamingo food but all of the flamingos were sleeping. I guess for a place called Flamingo Gardens we expected there to be more flamingoes. I think there were around 10. There was a birds of prey exhibit that was good and you could get very close to them. There was another bird exhibit that just smelled terrible due to the bird feces everywhere. There are signs to tell you, that you may get pooped on and do not look up with your mouth open. There are Ibis everywhere, I likened them to pigeons. There are many free roaming peacocks that are happy to come eat out of your hand. We did not take the tram but did walk around and the property is lovely with large trees. There is a snack bar with reasonably priced food and smoothies. We got the fruit smoothies and as we were drinking them one flamingo woke up and slowly made his way over to where my son was standing with food. Soon the rest of them were over eating out of everyone's hands. They are beautiful and they were all different shades of pink. What was shaping into a just ok visit ended on a high note for us. I highly recommend the South Florida Adventure pass as we did 3/4 of the activities and this made it affordable.Visited August 2023Written August 20, 2023
- teachersmsSaratoga Springs, New York395 contributions5 star family fun!We LOVED it here! Took a Lyft from FLL Beach for an activity day. This is an animal sanctuary- not a zoo! These animals cannot return to the wild, and many are injured living out their lives with help and love. Animals you see: otters, alligators, birds, bald eagle, panther, a very sleepy bear, MANY peacocks, flamingos. The otters were our favorites!! Food is reasonable compared to the prices at our resort. Offer military rates online. Would return!Visited August 2023Traveled with familyWritten August 27, 2023
- Kelly BIowa4,371 contributionsQuaint and pretty! Old Florida vibe.I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed Flamingo Gardens. For me, the gardens/ trees were the most impressive part. The few animals were a nice bonus. There are many free ranging birds such as peacocks. They are not shy, and will walk right up to you looking for food. There are also some iguanas running around, a few that are huge. If you are visiting with someone who is scared of birds and/ or iguanas, they might not have a fun time. I loved the tram tour. It takes you back through a grove of several different kinds of fruit trees, and around a large pond. At one point, the tram briefly stops so guests can walk through the butterfly garden. You can also walk the tram route, which would be nice in cooler weather. The little paths around the gardens are fun to follow, to see what flowers and other foliage you can find. All the staff we encountered were so friendly and helpful, and genuinely seemed glad to be there.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 3, 2023

I live only about 15 minutes from here and had no idea how large it is! The garden is home to a diverse collection of animals and plants. The animals are all close to the entrance and easy to view. The walking paths are well maintained and eco-friendly (paved with recycled tires!). The whole experience was relaxing, engaging, and enjoyable. The staff was exceptionally friendly and thorough answering questions. The home of the original owners is on display as a museum and a volunteer tour guide named Hank walked us through. He did a wonderful job and seemed to love what he was doing. While the tickets were a bit pricey, they are well worth it and I would absolutely return here.

Flamingo Gardens is a one-time Florida tourist site, when Interstate travel was unheard of. Today it has morphed into a 'must visit' if you have any interest in animals and plants. The Flamingos are a big draw, but there are many other animals, including a Florida Panther, Alligators. My favorite was the aviary, where injured birds come to recover or find a new 'forever home'. February is breeding season, if you go now you will see stork nests as well as baby pelicans.
I was there for the trees and plants, which are quite amazing. It's an old property, so the trees are huge. there is a mango plantation from the property's farming days, which you can see on the tram tour.
Go now, if you have a nature bone in your body you won't regret it!

Had most of the day to kill after departing a cruise and having a late afternoon flight out of FLL. It was a little chilly, the flamingos were beautiful. The facility was very welcoming and we welcomed the ability to walk knowing we would be on a long flight after. It's not a pristine zoo, it is an animal refuge. We enjoyed a 30-minute live show with some of their rehabilitated birds that refused to leave when freed and love the idea that animals that have no where else to go can find a home here.

We spent a lovely afternoon at Flamingo Park, I can strongly recommend it! The grounds are well maintained and there are so many unusual trees there.
The highlight of the trip was the bird aviary, We took our time there to sit quietly to just observe the many types of beautiful birds. For 25 cents you can buy food for the birds and enjoy feeding them. It was amazing to see so many peacocks just roaming around..The flamingo pond was absolutely wonderful to see. We went to the animal
encounters show and saw a white skunk, a snake and owl. We saw the sea otters being fed which was fun. The staff are very informative and answered all our questions.
We took the tram ride around and the guide was very knowledgeable. At the Wray House we did not take the tour but there was a docent inside who explained the history- The gift shop was well stocked with a good variety of souvenirs.
All in all a great value for your money and a great way to spend a relaxing afternoon.

We were concerned this might be a tourist trap. It is definitely NOT!
My husband and I both had a lovely afternoon here, spending almost 3 hours. We attended the wildlife show and took the narrated tram ride.
There are numerous peacocks and pea hens who roam the property. The aviary and flamingo areas are wonderful. We saw a 1 week old baby pelican and witnessed the fierce protectiveness of its parents.
This is not a zoo, but a wild life conservation and protection area.
Well worth a visit.

Thank you so much for your 5 star review and for recognizing that we are not a zoo! It is a treat to see the baby animals born in captivity, but it's even more special when we get to see them released into the wild.
We hope you are able to visit again in the future!

Flamingo Gardens just posted a BOGO deal on Facebook for the month of September if you buy your tickets at the door. Staff was very friendly. Bring your own water because it is HOT! Tram ride was nice and showed a lot of different plants over a wide acreage. Yessenia at the Wild Encounters show was awesome! Very knowledgable and great speaking skills. I’ve lived in Florida my whole life and I’ve never seen a wildlife show like that. Olive the raccoon was so adorable!!

We come every year to hand feed the flamingos and peacocks. The grounds are a spectacular botanical event as well. They have trees of many species including banyon trees, the house museum where the original owner lived, a tram ride through the property, it's just wonderful. The tram driver explains everything in a 20 minute circle tour. Its a great place for the kids of all ages.

Both the Tram Guide and the Wildlife Experience Guide were filled with details and information about the animals and vegetation. You can take the tram ride around the property and learn about all kinds of trees, plants etc or you can take your time and walk the grounds.
The many varieties of birds and other animals are all well cared for you get an up close look at them.
I did take the tram ride and unfortunately those of us at the back didn't get to hear much of the guide because of screaming unruly kids behind us with the Mom's yelling at them. A consideration perhaps, have a tram for families with small children? Actually it is understandable, as the tram ride is a talk about trees and plants so most kids would be bored easily.

Visited the Flamingo Gardens in January 2021. We were impressed from the arrival to departure. The staff were very friendly and helpful at each step of the way. I recommend that a person or family take the Narrated Tram tour at the beginning which gives you an overall view of the facility before you look at individual areas. Our tour guide, Lori, did an outstanding job and was very knowledgeable about the animals, plants and trees. I didn’t find it on the web site but they do give discounts to military, seniors, and AARP, which was nice. The place is run mainly by dedicated volunteers who keep the place clean and were very knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend this place for all ages.

Bad. Having 3 trains not a busy day, the personnel use a train that doesn't have capacity for handicapped person. Simple she is the only person that have to wait staying and wait another 30 minutes to used the next train. Really unconsider for a handicap person not being able to stand. Really disappointed. What was the problem using the same car/train twice.

I have four kids all 11 and under. If I buy tickets is it for everything botanical garden and the wild life sanctuaries the tram ride etc? And if we wanted to do the wild life sanctuary and just the ride could we skip over the gardens? Want to prep before going

The flamingos are in a habitat and they are not migratory. They are here year round. The nests that they build are in their habitat and are visible to our guests. If they lay eggs, we will incubate them in our animal clinic and put the babies on display when they are old enough.
You can see flamingos whenever you come. You just might not see any nests.
