About
The Fresno Art Museum’s focus is on contemporary and modern art, photography, ethnographic, and cultural exhibitions that reflect and celebrate the diverse population of the San Joaquin Valley. Exhibitions are curated in-house by Museum staff or are specially chosen traveling exhibitions and most change twice per year. The artists exhibited range from emerging and established local artists to artists from around the globe. Since 1988 FAM‘s Council of 100 annually recognizes a late-career, internationally-known woman artist with a Distinguished Woman Artist award and exhibition. FAM has a collection of Pre-Columbian artworks from Mexico and the Andes on permanent display and holds a permanent collection of over 3,500 works. PLEASE CHECK OUR WEBSITE FOR HOURS . We close for exhibition change-over every January and late June through July, and occasionally close for special events.

I was surprised by the caliber of the Fresno Art Museum. While visiting family in Fresno, I stumbled along the modern art museum and was extremely impressed. Fresno, a place more recognized for its agriculture than for its arts, does not get the credit it deserves. The museum had a wonderful collection when I visited. I especially enjoyed an architecture exhibit by well-known architect Arthur Dyson. And their beautiful sculpture garden had pieces by sculptors I recognized and love, like Clem Renzi. I will make sure to revisit the Fresno Art Museum each time I return to Fresno.

Places like these could be promoted more often, I believe Fresno could spend more money and effort in making this place and the other museums better, it's very sad to see how much money they put in other things, also we could have Fresno state and Fresno city involved to have more art work and in the same time have more people to come not just students but families and tourists.

I remember going here on field trips when I was in Junior High. I now attend the "Men Who Cook" event annually. It's a great place!

The Fresno Art Museum is another Fresno treasure. They often have evening entertainement that is very reasonably priced, and usually a vendor selling food- and the entertainment has always been excellent! They hae eclectic artists, so check their web site or the Fresno Bee. They have permanent art collections and rotating collections. Even if I don't quite appreciate what they have, I love that we can go there and see something that is usually reserved for the large cities in CA.

This museum is dynamic, inspiring, and always seems to display contemporary and cutting-edge works, from local, national, and international artists. Friendly and helpful docents.

A cultural jewel in Fresno's limited arts landscape! I would highly recommend a visit. The building and garden are nicely architected, and the exhibits tend to be quite well done.

A sad and hardly worthwhile collection of unimportant pieces.

The museum currently has a lovely exhibit of Greek Orthodox icons and an interesting Mexican gallery that features pre- and Columbian pieces. It also has about a dozen Ansel Adams photos. A couple of exhibits weren't very meaningful for us at all, but overall, this is an okay way to kill an hour or so in Fresno.

My fondest memory of Fresno will always be the view of it in the rear vision mirror as we drove down the highway, never to return. Not a good family / tourist destination at all. Sorry.

We are so sorry your experience was underwhelming. We are very proud that this Museum has been alive and well in Fresno for nearly 70 years and is a destination for visitors from around the world. We would love to give your family a private tour if you change your mind about visiting.
