Purchased a Gold Card, well worth the extra so we tavel in comfort generally as it can become crowded at certail times of the day. Very clean and reliable.Visited March 2023Written March 20, 2023

- ANAND KSingapore, Singapore200 contributionsCheapest Way Around DubaiThe Dubai Metro is the cheapest and fastest way around in the linear city. Tickets are really affordable and they do go everywhere. We took a longish ride from the financial Center all the way to Atlantis, boarded a train, a tram and a monorail. all cool. That's the only downside - the tickets aren't valid across network. You may need to buy new tickets at for example the monorail. but otherwise, the train is a great option to go around. You can even use foreign credit cards to buy short-term tickets.Visited March 2023Written April 8, 2023
- Fortune_MadhukuHarare Province, Zimbabwe462 contributionsConvenientFast, reliable and very convenient for the budget traveller. Most attractions in Dubai can be reached by metro - Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, Gold Souk etc. Some places like JBR beach can be reached by a combination of metro and tram. You can even shuttle to the airport terminal 1 and terminal 3 if you do not have many bags. Very cheap considering that most trips are less than $2. The trick is to book a hotel that is within walking distance from a metro station.Visited March 2023Written April 9, 2023

However, the right to sit shouldn’t be taken for granted……standing from center point to expo 2020 isn’t cool, denying men to sit in there right places shows imbalance yet it’s clearly written only if the person is old, pregnant or baby is allowed to take sit from silver cabin but not finding someone sited already for a long time and make noise for that particular person simply because you are a lady. Women may have the right to sit but the right love isn’t owned by anyone, so mind about other people’s situation whether man or woman because no body knows how the other is feeling maybe sick or anything else …Visited April 2023Traveled soloWritten April 11, 2023
- PARESH D9 contributionsBest transportation service in dubaiThis is one of the best and cheapest ways to travel in dubai. Very easy very convenient. The downsides are very crowded most of the time so you hardly get to seat down even if you journey is long. Some journeys can be even longer than 40 minutes. It has limited reach so some areas are not covered and even where it does go to you will still need to walk to and fro from the exact place you want to go to.Visited April 2023Written April 12, 2023

The Dubai Metro is a modern clean Transit System which operates from the airport and throughout the city and neighboring suburbs.
You have to purchse a Noi card, I recommend purchasing the silver Noi card which you can top up at any time at bus stations Metro stations and agencies.
The big downfall is its quite hard to locate someone for some assistance to ask a simple question, and the people at the ticket booths are usually uncontactable and are caught up with long lines of people purchasing tickets.
With the noi card you can use the Metro trains and buses and you do need to tap on and off for each trip, as I was told by one bus driver don't worry about it and then you get stung a much higher fee.
The downside to the Metro is that it does not run after midnight from the airport and there are numerous flights into Dubai that arrive or depart after midnight which means you have to take a taxi or Uber.
The Metro trains and buses are modern and air conditioned and I have a relatively cheap way of getting around Dubai.

Personally, I always prefer metro rail wherever the facility is available for commute within the city and sub urban areas. On time and traffic signal free :) It saves lot of time and money for sure.
Dubai Metro is exceptional though the network is not as vast as many other international cities. The unique part is that it is completely driver less. Metro stations are ultra clean and fully air conditioned. For visitors they have specific NOL cards/plans which can be used for your daily commute at a very reasonable cost. You can also surrender these cards while returning from Dubai and get the refund of the leftover/unused amount. In case, you want to make purchases with the remaining amount in your NOL card, you can shop from the Metro Station designated stores. By the way, you can use the same card for any public transport including ferries, trams and buses.
I have extensively used the Dubai Metro facilities with my family during my stay in Dubai for 8 days. It is very convenient and hassle free. Except in few junctions, the metro is never crowded. 3 Main lines connects all the important and sightseeing places within the city. If you like to explore the city areas by walking a bit, I will highly recommend to use Dubai Metro for your commute to and within city. Most importantly, it connects to the Airport from the extreme end of the Dubai city.

The Dubai Metro is the easiest way to travel inside the City especially if you’re on a tight budget. Just wear your most comfortable footwear and i believe you’ll be ready to go. There are some places that needs to walk to be able to reach a certain destination from the Metro Station. While at your hotel, be sure to find the location you wanted to visit in Google Maps. Avoid the rush hours in the mornings and in the evenings or else you might be trapped inside the train and miss your intended station (joke). Just enjoy the ride and the views especially in the morning.

I’ve used the Dubai Metro for several years now when visiting. I find the service to be very precise for timing and consistent. The best way to travel as a tourist is to purchase a silver Noi card. This currently costs 25 dirhams and you receive 19 dirhams of travel on the card. Credit can be added very easily at any station at the ticket office or the machines. The card is valid for 5 years. The trains and stations are spotlessly clean. Rush hours are always busy but if you miss a train another comes along minutes later. I highly suggest trying the metro as it’s very efficient and reliable.

Dubai metro is quiete convenient way of travelling within the city. The Red and the green lines connect you to major places in Dubai and the tickets are very economical. You may buy one way, two ways, day pass, 3 day pass, 7 days pass or a Nol card by paying cash or using your card at any of the metro stations as you have dedicated personals to assist you. Running every after 5 mins during non peak hours (usually 10am to 4pm and 8pm to 11pm) and every after 3 mins during the rest of the time helps you to plan accordingly. Usually the Red line going towards Rashidiya from UAE exchange stays very busy from 4.30pm to 7.30 or 8 pm. Definitely a recommendable mode of travelling in Dubai.

The first day in Dubai, we bought a NOI card for 2 AED and loaded a daily travel card onto it. We didn’t use the Metro as much as we thought we were going to, so it would have been cheaper buying point to point tickets.
We assumed the NOI card worked like the Oystercard in London and could be topped up, so the second day, we tried to add point to point tickets to the previous day’s card, but this can’t be done. We could have added another daily travel card. Hence, we were issued with another plastic NOI card which then had a single journey added to it and the same for the other ride that we took. After a few days here, we have a small pile of plastic cards that will need to be thrown away. What a waste.
The Metro service itself is clean, the station toilets are immaculate and it’s cheap, but the stations are quite far apart and it’s not easy getting to some of the attractions. The Burj Khalifa is a good 10 minute walk from the Metro station of the same name, connected by high level air conditioned walkways.

We used the metro this morning. The trains were clean. As tickets are cheap, the trains do tend to get crowded during peak times.
We noted that the trains are punctual and because we used the trains at non-peak times we had no issue with crowding.

Dubai metro is a good option for the budget travelers. The trains are frequent (2 minutes to 7 minutes). Metro is well connected to many places.
If you are traveling for a short trip better take a silver Nol card which is 25 AED with 19 AED value. Same zone travel will cost AED 3 and 3 plus zone will be AED 7.5. You can load the card at the metro station whenever you require. If you rarely use metro, take Nol red ticket. Keep in mind metro will be crowded during the weekdays.
You can use the Nol card for bus (no cash only Nol card), tram, taxi and even at the retail shops like zoom supermarket.

An efficient and punctual system, which tends to get a bit overcrowded if travelling on a silver class card. If you are travelling on a budget, it's worth it to try this option, however, as a tourist it's worth it to pay a little extra for a gold class ticket as there are seats and the carriage is far lesser crowded. There are designated women and children carriages (fo silver class) which is comforting from a safety perspective.

Dubai Metro is clean and 100% reliable, helped by the fact that the trains are automated and do not rely on drivers.
Prices are cheap - just 6 dirhams for a standard one way, one zone single or 10 dirhams for the comfort of gold class, which I recommend if you can as there is generally comfortable seating and also good views from the front/back of the train.
The stations and trains are immaculately clean and it is an efficient way to travel and get off the sometimes busy roads.

It is walkable, there are travelators but we lost count after the 8th so don't under estimate the time it takes from the metro, also strangely there are no obvious signs for it so just keep heading into the mall.

1st, you have to be at a Metro station to purchase any ticket. Gold is kind of a waste, unless you really need to be partitioned from the masses. I'm sure it's less crowded at peak hours though.
2 No refunds, give the card away when you leave.
3 The card works on trains and trams, for sure. We didn't use the buses.
Google Dubai Metro for map and stations.
4 We used Uber, probably less than a taxi.
Good luck.
