About
YOU CAN PAY CASH ON THE SPOT! The New Sofia Pub Crawl is the night walk around Sofia’s hidden and unique bars. This event is not for those looking for loud and smoky rooms; instead, you will hear different stories about the places visited and meet other tourists from all over the world. Therefore, a nice international evening with a lot of chatting is guaranteed. The event costs 35 BGN and includes some free drinks at most of the places. Every location has its own style and is worth visiting it. You would not find these places on your own or just would't dare to go in. Note: Currently the pub crawl operates in summer mode, or every single day of the week. Please, bring your photo ID, some of the bars require it, despite of your age :)

I attended the pub crawl on the night of Saturday 1st December 2018. I was a little late (with 2 other guys) so just contacted the host via Facebook messenger and they waited patiently for me prior to starting the pub crawl - response was instant, thanks! We were a large group overall, maybe 25-30 and everyone was very nice and fun, especially the hosts. They organised it extremely well, ensured everyone is ready to leave at the same time, giving enough warning when moving to the next pubs, chatting to everyone and feeding us lots of drinks. Yes, i know the shots are cocktail shots and are more tasty then actually getting you drunk, but who cares, drinks are so cheap just buy another shot or extra beer! you pay for the experience and ability to meet people and have fun, not for the drinks on the night. This is not for stingy people, its for those that want to meet others! Anyways, the night continues and we 3 guys met a group of 6 German girls that we chatted most of the night to. Although most the girls had boyfriends (including my hopefully future wife, Anna), we still managed to have an after party back at ours (just us 3 guy& the 6 girls - High five!), and had lots more drinks in the Jacuzzi at our place. Unfortunately, i did not exchange any numbers so i have no way of contacting anyone of the girls. So, Anna, if you read this, please message me, I love you and not a day goes by that i don't think of you. I know you have a boyfriend, but i promise our babies will be much more beautiful!!

Traveling alone can be lonely at times. Especially in a country where you don't know the language and you can't read the writing! When I was researching what to do in Sofia, I came across the New Sofia Pub Crawl and added it to my list of things to do.

In my uncertainty, I actually debated whether or not I should go. My flight into Sofia that day was in the morning so I had been up for quite a while and was concerned that going out on the town might be a little too much for me to handle. There was no need to be concerned!

The pub crawl is EXACTLY what I needed. Danny and Nadia were fantastic guides who took us to some very cool places that I would not have found nor had the guts to go to by myself.

The crawl meets up at Crystal Park at 9pm and then walks to 5 different bars/pubs/clubs over the course of the night. We started at a great little place called Alcohol where we sat and got to know everyone a little better with beers bought by the tour before heading onward. The second place may have been my favorite. It was a small, dark, pub called Hambara. You would never find it on your own and it was only lit by candles. This was where we got our first taste of rakyia. Next we made our way to The Apartment which is an interesting bar housed in a 'house'. Definitely make your way to the kitchen to grab something to drink. After that we went to the Ale House where we all took our turn at pouring our own beer at the table top tap. Lastly we went to a club that I have no idea what the name was - possibly Mixtape or something like that.

All in all it was a great night, made even more awesome by the fact that Nadia game me a ride back to my hotel so that I didn't need to walk the 20+ minutes back at 1:30-2:00am.

If you do nothing else in Sofia, take this in. It's well worth the 20лв that it cost ($14-15US)! If you take it in on the first night it definitely makes you much more comfortable with the city.

As a 50 something single traveller you might think twice about this when in Sofia. Don't. It's a great mix of culture and company. The guides were great and the whole concept of showing you the hidden watering holes of the city is a brilliant idea.

I ended up in a small group of 5 which is ideal for some of the bars - but I can see that larger groups would also be fine.

It isn't about getting drunk - much more about the people and the hangouts of the city. It is varied and interesting. Four hours slipped by fast.

So there I was in a club early in the morning feeling more like mid twenty than my official age (please take your passport or driving licence on Friday or Saturday nights - it is required to get in).

I won't spoil the enjoyment by telling you which bars we went to but I will say that I went back to some over the next couple of days. Just purely for research you understand...

An excellent evening out that really explored the hidden Sofia. Highly recommended. Even for old blokes.

I was 10 days hiking through Bulgaria and started my visit with the pub crawl. It was perfect.

Get yourself something to eat before and be at 9pm at the big headed statue in Park Crystal. You cannot miss it. Our guides, Ivo and Nadja, guided our group of 5 well through 4 different bars and pubs. Every location has its own style and is worth visiting it. You would not find these places on your own or just wouldn´t dare to go in. In every location you get something for free. So it was a great experience.

You also meet other tourist from all over the world. So a nice international evening with a lot of chatting is guaranteed. Do the pub crawl at your first night in Sofia, because you wander around in the inner city and get yourself some orientation.

I repeated the crawl on my last night in Sofia and it was as great as the first one!

First things first, I love to party. I pack more energy then a can of red bull on any given night. Now that you know my personality...I've crawled in cities like Krakow, Edinburgh, Barcelona, Valencia, Dublin, Rome, Paris, Milan, if there isn't an established pub crawl. We encourage the hostel we're staying at to make our own...drink discounts or not we make it happen.

Sofia..was just one of those nights but only better.

Our crawling guides were Kris and Dan if I remember correctly. The only short fall is the wait for everyone to show up in the beginning. If I was running late I would appreciate this. If I'm on time like my friend and I were...we did not appreciate waiting an additional 15minutes in the cold when there was free beer to be drank :)
After the first bar we continued to 4 other bars all very different from the previous. I would describe some of them to you but I would ruin the surprise. I will share with you that The Apartment has a server who is probably one of the top three hottest Bulgarian woman I laid my eyes on during the four day trip. Kris and Dan know exactly who I'm talking about.
This crawling experience more free shots or interesting alcoholic items...from shots or candy filled alcohol or free beer on entry. The Crawl hosts were very personable and made the crawl outrageously fun for just the 4 or 5 of us that attended. The club scene on a saturday night in Sofia should be booming...but the serious language barrier I don't think I would have ever found exactly the style of club I was looking for had it not been for the Pub Crawl. We pit stopped at one club just in case it was jumping. Waiting for the warm up hours to end...the club didn't increase in people or women so we went to the next place, which was off the chain. I didn't have to drink at all once at the club because the alcohol consumed throughout the night was more then sufficient even for those with a high tolerance.

For a tour that was just recently established: well planned, excellent locations, good people, great price for a crazy time.

Thanks!
Robert

Definitely the best pub crawl I've ever been on. For 10 Euro you get a substantial amount of booze, and a great way to check out some of the amazing bars hidden around Sofia that non-locals would otherwise have zero chance of finding. We went on the crawl twice.

Most people will like the free-pour beer at the Ale House (beer on tap just next to your table, all included. It's also the crawl's food stop if you let the guys know so you can call ahead). However the standout for me was the "The Apartment", a laid-back wine bar that used to be (you guessed it) an old apartment, which was owned by a doctor and used as his practice before the Communists took it over.

Overall a very tasty sample of the nightlife Sofia has hiding (not too hard) within, and a good crawl with way, way more included booze than any other one I've been on. Shout outs to Nadia, Kristian and Dany!

Fantastic way to spend an evening- You visit places that you would never find on your own often behind secret doors or requiring a "special knock" and every place was full of locals. Great guides and I shared the experience with a great bunch of fellow drinkers. Do not miss when in Sofia

It was my first night in this city, my first time ever to visit Sofia, my first time ever to visit Bulgaria! The New Sofia Pub Crawl was definitely an experience that initiated the momentum which eventually heralded an unforgettable two weeks! Kristian and Magi were our great hosts! They guided us to approximately six bars, each so distinct, and each representing a unique slice of the city's fascinating history! Our group comprised of nationals from different cities in the United States, as well as the United Kingdom, France, the Czech Republic, Poland, and India! We were initially strangers but became friends by the end of the evening! The magic of the night made it extremely difficult for us to part ways! As such, I found myself with a smile on my face as I walked along Vitosha Boulevard to return to my hotel at 3:30 AM!!!

I went on this pub crawl on my first visit to Sofia and I am really glad I did.

Billy and Moni showed us 4 bars that we would never have been able to find without them, each one of them being unique and really interesting.

They girls whilst being very professional and knowledgeable on each of the bars and Sofia in general were also really cool and friendly, and each went out of their way to build a connection with each person on the tour.

I would highly recommend taking this tour whether on your own or with some friends as either way it is a really good night and a great way to meet new people.

This excursion isn't for raucous stag partys looking to get wasted and cause mayhem. The Bulgarians like to drink, but they are much more relaxed and chilled out than some other nationalities.
The tour takes you around some of the back street bars that are slightly away from the city centre and then ends up at club.
The price of the tour covers several drinks and entry to the club,
which is fine considering the low cost of the tour and price for extra drinks.
I enjoyed this tour so much I did it twice.
The fist time I took this tour there were about 12-16 people of various ages and nationalities and it made for a really interesting and enjoyable evening.
The second time I went there was a lot less people and although I still enjoyed it the group dynamic was different as not everyone could speak English.
On the first evening (Friday) the club had a DJ and was packed out. On the following night the club had an excellent live band, but was half empty.
The guides - Andre, Panny, & Mirella (apologies for incorrect spellings) were all excellent. Chatting with them provides an insight into Bulgarian history, culture and modern life. They also gave me some great tips on other tours that were running.
