One of the great things about Singapore is its rich and diverse religious community. This is one of 3 Hindu temples we visited. As a Christian, I confess I don't know much about the Hindu faith, but I do think as a religious person it is easy to appreciate the beauty of the temple and understand some of the culture in the art. With that said, this temple had the tallest entrance of statues of any we saw. It also was the most richly painted and its deep blue entrance with red and white stripped walls distinguished it. The inside was very similar to the Hindu temple in Chinatown, including layout and open design. The colors here were so vibrant and the juxtaposition of the temple with surrounding towers was amazing. I can not say I understood most of what I saw but I can say I was impressed by the art and the vibrancy of the colors.

Visited the temple this morning. What impresses immediately is the cleanliness and outstanding maintenance of all facilities.
Calm, peaceful and excellent energies prevail all around!
Lovely decorations of deities, tastefully draped with excellent colour sense.
Pre-ordered Ven Pongal and Kesari as offerings to the Lord.
Both were authentic in preparation and mouthwatering in taste.
Will definitely frequent!!

I noticed that I am going to be the first one writing a review in English for this temple. I am a local Singaporean Chinese that helps out with Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple (SSPT)
SSPT is located at Serangoon Road or the Little India of Singapore. To get there, you can take the local rail (MRT) services to Farrer Park station on the North-East Line. Surrounding the temples are a great plenty eateries that serve northern, southern Indian food and Nepalese Food.
SSPT is one of the most major Hindu temple in Singapore and housed one of the most important deity of Hinduism. I will not dwell further on the religion, but you can get lots of info about SSPTon the Hindu Endowment Board website: http://www.heb.gov.sg/sspt/main-sspt.html
For any tourists that are not familiar with the Hindu culture, please feel free to approach anyone and during prayers (known as pooja), feel free to step forward to be blessed by the priest. The priest will annoin you with either sacred ashes or vermilion or sandal wood paste which are all agents of blessing in hinduism
There are absolutely no costs involved unless you want the priests to do a special prayers for you. They will then proceed to make preparations.
If you visit Singapore during the January to February period, do come to SSPT to witness a reliogious procession known as Thaipusam where devotees will impale themselves and carry heavy religious metal frame in devotion to the deity Murugan. These devotees will travel on foot to another temple: Sri Thandayuthapani Temple. It is something not to be missed. The festival is not fixed on the gregorian calendar. Instead, the date is influence by astrological signs. So please check the following website to know when is the festival:
http://www.heb.gov.sg/hindufestivals.html. Thaipusam is a full day event.
Do remember that when you visit any hindu temple, you should remove your footwear. However you can carry it with you inside a bag. Strictly, ladies should be covered from shoulder to feet, though I had not yet seen any of the temple officials rejecting entry because of that. As long as you are respectful, you are always welcomed.

Re-visited this temple after a gap of 3 years on an auspicious day only to be reassured that rich tradition continues to be preserved in pockets such as these, in a world other wise 'threatened' by 'modernity' where one sees so much of the past sacrificed to accommodate the demands of the future. Reaching there at 1030 am on a working day, I could feel the quiet serenity and powerful energies of a sacred place where several have visited, prayed and heightened the 'energy level'! Having the whole complex practically to ourselves we could sense how huge the place is in the midst of the hurry burry of Serangoon Road, Little India. The rich Sanskrit verses chanted by the trained priests heightens the aura of the Lord & makes the whole experience so very memorable. Will certainly re- visit.

I didn`t know anything about Hinduism and It was the first Hindu temple I saw in Singapore, maybe that`s the cause I was so impressed.I liked the plenty of statues on the top and the bright colours.I felt very calm and strangely connected to the Universe when I stepped barefoot inside. The architecture was strange and beautiful, you don`trealise where is in and where is out.

If you’re in the Little India area, the Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple is one of the stop-off points to take in a little piece of Hindu culture in Singapore. Instagrammers and photographers will definitely have an affinity with this spot. A guide can be hired to learn more about the location, but you can also walk in on your own. Just remember to be mindful and respectful, as it is a space of worship and try to adhere to the modesty dress code (although scarves/ wraps can be provided for coverage if necessary). Although they are not compulsory, donations can be given upon exiting the temple.

A nice and huge clean temple. Very peaceful if you go at an off peak time but over the weekend it is super crowded. It is peaceful and does provide the religious experience that one expects.

It took me a couple of days to find this temple, and I’m glad I went back to search for it. Took the MRT to Farrer Park and walked up Serangoon Road for about 5 minutes. Sri Srinavasa Perumal Temple is beautiful, peaceful, solemn. From the colorful tower of deities that greet you at the front (which I later learned depicted the various incarnations of Lord Vishnu), to the massive wooden doors and the brilliantly painted ceilings, the entire structure is one spectacular work of art.
Did a little research after the visit and learned that the circular patterns on the ceiling represent the nine planets of the universe, and that the temple is one of the oldest Hindu temples in Singapore, dating back to 1855. Highly suggest that you read up on the history of the temple prior to visiting… it enhances your appreciation tremendously.

I visited the Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple October 2019. Little India and Serangoon Road were all decorated for the upcoming Deepawali holiday (Festival of Lights). The temple is very interesting to look at and a good photo opportunity.
