Visited Carmarthen during our driving trip through Wales. Went into this local indoor market in the town centre. Great place to grab some unique Welsh food, craft items etc. Worth a visit if you are in Carmarthen.

If you go to Carmarthen market you will be surprised at the wonderful selection of things for sale from tasty cheeses to Welsh wool blankets and a friendly bargain price hairdresser and nice clean loos.
Don't bother with the cafe at the front of the market tho because they are always miserable. We have been there several times and tried to be sociable but it's a total waste of time . They break out in Welsh language if they find out you are English and generally they are unpleasant even tho the food is quite good they make you feel uncomfortable for being alive especially if you have a dog.

THe market is nice but the whole of carmarthen is a lovely mix of the old world with it's narrow little alley ways and the new with the shopping center. We had a lovely day out here with all the shopping, old curiousity shops and the Castle.

I was just charged £12 for a screw to be fitted to my cheap reading glasses!!! After complaining £5 was returned to me but I have still spent £7 on a repair of a pair of glasses which cost me £2!!!! I feel really ripped off. As a pensioner I try not to throw things away but after this experience with J. Thomas & son market stall in Carmarthen market I will think again.

Easy to get to via Swansea train-line (means changing trains at Swansea)
Lovely market town with a market full of delightful food smells and stocked with al kinds of things. Interesting back-streets and alleys with plenty of little pubs for a drink or meal.
Lots o f small bistros to eat and also near water/canal/river. From the train station walk over the little bridge into town. Churches and a museum is here and quite abit of Architecture still remains. Enough shops of different sizes and assortments. Great stop- over to Pembrokshsire Coastline and Tenby or on route to Ireland. Carmarthen,A true Welsh Gem.

We decided to drop in when we visited Carmarthen so glad we did. Compared to most markets still well supported. Some very nice local butchers and fruit sellers who we thought were good value for money. Place was bright and clean and good variety of stalls. We were a little rushed due to car park nearly out of time. Next time we are in Carmarthen we spend more time in their .

This was mine & hubby's first visit to Carmarthen and it's market. The market is not the biggest by any means but it had some good stalls.

A late answer obviously; best day to come is on Wednesday. that's when the outdoor market is also open, offering an additional variety of items and street food to purchase.
